Last year I bought in January, didn't go to Towers until May. So I got sale prices, went in to Towers for the day, picked up the pass on the way out. So I have a pass bought last winter that will get me in to Towers and SW8 for the first couple of months of 2018 season. Perfect as I'm not renewing.
How come?

2 years in a row of having a MAP, it's very hard to find value in visiting the same attractions and riding the same rides month in month out. I live quite a distance away from almost every attraction and so have been forcing myself to visit recently just to try and get my "money's worth".

If I bought a Towers pass just for myself and ditched my family's passes that's around £500 saved. That's more than enough for a family trip to Paultons, Oakwood, Drayton and Blackpool.

So I'm looking into renewing my merlin pass, when I bought it in the sale last year it was part of the family pass thing. Does anybody know wether I would be able to just renew mine at the renewal rate? Thanks :)

Someone else tried that elsewhere on the forum, or something similar (think they renewed theirs outside of the 8 week window) and when they picked the pass up, they said nothing and handed them over, what's the worst they can do other than ask you to pay the difference? It's their fault in the first place for not having a system that verifies someone isn't entitled to said discount.

Of course I'll probably get a smack on the wrist now for encouraging you to break some moral code or something, in which case I'll just refer the Court to my previous, final sentence.

Question. I have an Alton towers annual pass now instead of a map. I get 20% off food, drinks, waterpark, tree tops, golf etc..... Does anyone know if the pass also gets you the discount on actual hotel stays?

Phoned them yesterday and was told that YES - Alton Towers annual pass holders DO get discount on hotel stays. However the amount varies, and strangely enough, the lady said it was actually cheaper to book a stay without discount for next year at the moment! Just the way the system works she said! lol.

Oh, the discount doesnt apply for NYE however :(

This isn't about the park as such, but more about one of its fan sites. What happened to Alton Towers Almanac? The last update on the site was the 2014 season beginning and they have been teasing "a new ATA" for well over a year now. Also, the last update on their Facebook was in 2016.

Since the original owner/creator of ATA, retired from the site as he got a job in the industry. The website has been left without the driving force behind it.

Thanks @delta79! So the new ATA will never see the light, unfortunately.

Has anyone used parent swap before? If so how do you get a ticket for it etc? Hoping it will be available on wicker man

Yes we use them

I generally ask the staff member who stands at the entrance to smiler for one as i'm heading for oblivion in ERT

You go on the ride and get the ride op to put their initials on one of the boxes for the ride you've been on and then your partner can use the exit/fast track with the ticket and they'll then sign the other box

You an either hand it over to your partner straight away or get a few signed and then hand it over then.....me and my daughter generally whip around in ERT and then the first hour of park proper opening and then meet up with the mrs and little lad and then go around the park at a normal pace together

I very much doubt wicker man will have one

Going on our annual Towers visit in August. Will be on park Fri 17th + Sat 18th.

Having to travel from Northern Ireland we only get to visit once a year. We're staying at the Chained Oak B&B as we love it there.

Disappointed to find we can't book 2 day tickets for the theme park like we did in the past. The £55 season pass option is useless to us as it doesn't cover weekends in August.

What would our best ticket option be for our two day visit?

If they don't let you book 2 day tickets and they still offer the bouceback (also known as come back again tickets) tickets buy a single day then when on park buy a bouceback ticket for the next day.

You're best bet would be to get either a voucher for discounted entry for the first day, or buy a ticket online. Then usually Towers do bounceback tickets for a visit on a future date at a cheaper rate (I forget what they actually call them these day). They always used to do next day boucebacks as well which were even cheaper.

Unsure if details of bouncebacks have been announced for 2018 yet, if not we'll get a better idea come the start of the season.

I hope that is of some use!

:)

There's some stuff on park that says bouceback and some that says towers 2.

(It was £10 for next day and £15 for anyday before fireworks during the 2017 season)
