Liseberg: General Discussion

Why would it not be ready till 2019? They've only got a small amount more track left, and B&Ms don't take 11 months to test! That would mean that it's only theming holding them back, but the theming didn't look massively in depth from the concept images.

The article says that digging the hole is a nightmare. Why it’s going to take so long
Well, at a guess, it's located at the bottom of "Lisa's Mountain", next to a river (canal?). So there may well be issues with the water table?

Mud is the issue. They have dug down 5 meters so far but they need to get to 8 meters. Seems to be a bit of a Smiler here in terms of poor planning and leaving things far too late.

:)

Oh dear...

All I can say is that at least we're not moaning about Alton Towers' new coaster being delayed until 2019 due to groundworks... I know that many would not have put that past them after The Smiler.

Would they really make that much difference to the ride experience? Mack lap bars tend to hold you in pretty effectively so I can't imagine seatbelts intruding on the ride in any significant way. My main issue would be that they're probably a total faff and screw up loading times, but as it's the first day of the season at Liseberg today it's probably a bit early to call that.

Construction of Valkyria is back on track it seems, judging by this picture from Andreas Andersen! :)

The first shuttle is now in the maintenance building:

Is it just me who's not a fan of these B&M vest restraints? I find they tighten down on me throughout the ride and then at the end I find it quite difficult to breathe.

I’m not a fan either of the restraints either.
The best thing about Blivvy is getting away with a couple of clicks and having loads of free movement in the seat.
I hate being held strapped in tight. Where’s all the fun in that.

Can anyone please confirm what rides are open during "Christmas at Liseberg" these days?

I visited probably ten years ago at Christmas and it was only a selection of flats open.

There's no single list, but each attraction page lists the seasons it is "Open during" - e.g. Balder is Open during Summer, Halloween and Christmas but Kållerado is only Open during Summer. You can click on each attraction in the list on the left sidebar to work through them all in turn.

EDIT: I'm not sure how reliable that list is, it seems… strange… that Gasten Ghost Hotel is not open at Halloween. Maybe it is replaced by a temporary seasonal overlay?
