Poor merlin they've not had a good day at thorpe park or chessington yesterday puts altons issues into perspective. However issues at TP seem due to the relentless staffing budget cuts

Have Alton Towers sorted out X-Sector Audio again now - when I was last there it was either very quiet or off.

Also, has the volume been turned back up on The Smiler? Also, has the screen been fixed on "The Marmaliser" - when I was last there the side near Enterprise was not working correctly?

I'd have thought they would have fixed that by now - given that it's peoples first impression on the ride it doesn't look great, let alone the state the rest of it is in.
I was thinking more alone the lines of. People remember the incident then see a defective screen.

Great impression for someone with a view skewed by news media bios to shock news telling.

Exactly, that ride of all rides needs to be kept in top shape in my opinion. If, like you say, a member of the public who have been watching these news outlets and then sees the state of the ride - it doesn't exactly fill them with confidence.

So, what if someone has travelled hundreds of miles and can only spend one day at the theme park, and they haven't seen Wicker Man yet, only to find some bright green camper van selling shower gel parked right in front of it? Not entirely fair, I don't think. But then again, it's just typical Merlin prioritising money over guest experience. :(

I've no problems with promotional things like that at the park, as long as any money raised from this (pitch fee) goes directly into the pockets of Alton as they are in dire need of extra money, as oppose to lining the pocket of Merlin and it's share holders.
And that will ever happen?
