Blackpool Pleasure Beach: Icon - 2018 Mack Double Launch Coaster

But wasn’t it on/off before the heatwave

It seemed that it was almost always on in the morning, but got turned off during some periods of downtime and they forgot to turn it back on.

Seem a bit poor (maybe pour) to forget a key part of theming. Sure AT would be roasted for that (rightly so)

Does it really use new water constantly instead of recycling it? They'd surely need a huge tank to store a day's worth??

Seems like a bit of an excuse but I'm happy to be proved wrong!

It really uses water constantly. I’d understand the water conservation argument but for three things:

1. It didn’t run properly before any mention of a hosepipe ban
2. The same style misters in the train are switched on
3. It’s still intermittently on even now

That all says to me that it’s not purely turned off for the water shortage. It’s a real shame when it’s not in as the ride really misses it, since it was designed with the intention of being there.

Maybe we need the "it's better than nothing" guy/girl back to get a truthful answer, like "it's off because it's broke" or "it's off because we can't afford to run it" rather than this horseshit they keep pumping out.

The Hosepipe ban has forced them to fill it up from a watering can, even though the watering can uses more water, because you end up spilling most of it, it still helps the environment and make you feel better about yourself, only trouble is, what would take an hour with a Hosepipe, takes 8 days with a watering can.

This post was bough to you by the National Sarcasm Association of Britain.

Did anyone else get an email from their water company announcing the hosepipe ban like you had won 1st prize in a raffle?

That'll explain why Mandy was spotted screaming and kicking away from her computer; a stop to her beloved fountains.

As funny as the Mandy fountain jibes once were, I still maintain there were more fountains under WGT than there are now.

Do the ones in the ‘Sculpture Garden’ count as one or do we get to count them all separately? If so, it may be a dead heat.

Would love to see the return of the magic tap fountain though. Gotta love that water dyed with so much blue, it looked radioactive.

I miss the red "blood" fountain outside Trauma.

I really do miss the fountains with coloured dye in them, Would love to see them put Blue dye in the Alice fountain and red dye in the stream outside the ghost train.

Thank god PB are still putting red dye in the skull waterfall on the PBE route.:grinning:

Last year and this month I was happy to see Blue dye in the river caves:smile:
here's a video I took from July last year [/QUOTE]

I miss the red "blood" fountain outside Trauma. Although the new one is smarter, it hasn't worked properly for years - there used to be a mist/fog effect accompanying the fountains originally.

I definitely remember the mist. It was rather effective - looked almost like steam.

I also recall the jets in themselves being a lot cleaner. The jets of water they sent out were precise, whereas now they feel like they’re messy which detracts a little from the show. It would be good to see it get a refurb. They take up the grating every year, so I presume they do something with it. Perhaps if they had the original manufacturer back to give it a refresh.

New for 2019: more fountains!! Might attract a few more visitors than Icon has...
