Busch Gardens Tampa: General Discussion

Since Gwazi backs onto staff service areas, safety fencing has now been installed around that area to allow construction to progress very soon. There has also been clearing of debris around the Gwazi site in preparation for the arrival of further construction vehicles.
 
Gwazi is surprisingly well hidden inside the park given it's location. When I visited in 2016 I couldn't remember if it was SBNO or had been demolished. I walked all the way around the site and couldn't see it so assumed it was no longer there.
However from the picture above you'd think it is easy to spot.

You can see it from SheiKra, Falcon's Fury, Skyride and Bird Gardens but that's about it really.
 


In other news, the park have shared that the Opening Night Critters show that opened with the Pantopia area in 2014 will be closing at the end of December. A new show will open at the Pantopia Theater in early 2019!

As of today, Busch Gardens Tampa has been humane certified by the American Humane Association. Only a select few facilities worldwide have managed to uphold the incredibly stringent standards of animal welfare required to receive this accreditation. The 3 SeaWorld parks have already been accredited, meaning that 100% of the company's eligable locations have now been accredited. (SeaWorld Orlando accreditation also applies to Discovery Cove)
 
More track has arrived for Tigris:



The park have also announced their attraction maintenance schedule for the first part of 2019, the major ride closures are:

SheiKra: Jan 7th-18th
Sand Serpent: Jan 21st-25th
Kumba: Jan 28th-Feb 22nd
Falcon's Fury: Feb 25th-Mar 1st
Stanley Falls: Apr 1st-18th

Kumba always has a longer maintenance period than the other coasters. Not sure why. I've heard stories of them removing sections of track and re-welding them back together, but I can't say it for a fact. It is going on 30 years old in a 365 day park though. Probably had more wear on it than any other B&M in operation.

Whatever they do with Kumba they're doing it right. 30 years old and running like a dream.
 
I think it was referring to where it says on a piece of paper how many trains are on the track, the most bizarre bit is that system was in use on 13 in October 2014 (when I first noticed).
