There's some great air on Nitro in my experience, perhaps the cooler temperates make it pretty lethargic? Silver Star is noticeably slower at the Christmas events, as I recall(?).

I too was underwhelmed with Nitro but we only got one ride in due to storms, so I'll give it the benefit of the doubt. That helix was verrrry intense though.
 
I think the thing with Nitro is that it seems to be very inconsistent. From reading trip reports and watching vlogs etc, it seems to me like there are some days where it runs wonderfully and is up there as one of the strongest B&M hypers, whereas there are other days where it runs poorly and is one of the weakest B&M hypers. I've even heard that the ride can vary substantially between trains (train C is apparently particularly rough, for example).

I know all coasters can provide variable ride experiences to some extent, but that extent seems to be particularly great on Nitro.

I've only ridden Mako, which was glass smooth, decently forceful and always delivered oodles of wonderful airtime, so I can't really speak for any other B&M hypers.

Out of interest @MakoMania, what were your thoughts on the other coasters? Did El Toro live up to its huge hype in your eyes?
 
It was the Christmas event, so only the B&M coasters plus the S&S freespin thing were open.

It was chilly so I know that's one reason why Nitro may not have had it's usual kick, but it did not feel too slow going around the track. I just didn't feel any airtime and it rattled around a lot which I wasn't expecting. Their batman clone rode excellently though I must say, much better than Great White at SeaWorld Texas.

Ah right; that might be part of the reason why you didn't enjoy Nitro much, as I know some B&M hypers don't run as well in the cold, but I've also known plenty of people who've visited SFGAdv in the summer and didn't like Nitro much (the whole PBE crew didn't seem overly impressed when they went in June, for example).
 
Can't say I was a big fan of Nitro back in June which was a pity for sure.
Loved the Batman clone and El Toro though.

These B&M Hypers are funny beasts and seem to vary a lot depending on when you ride them. Nitro has been brilliant on both my visits in Great Adventure; airtime and a very intense helix.

I think Silver Star was running more slowly this winter season than it would do in the main season (very little trimming on the MCBR) however with the new winter wheels, which allow it to run in temperatures as low a -6C, the airtime was possibly better than ever!
 


Orion had track work finished. Pantehon was supposed to have finished track last Thursday..... Jersey Devil is still putting up Footers
