Thorpe Park: General Discussion

I'm surprised they don't just install a kicker wheel up there when they're being built to avoid this problem.
The weight of passengers would usually force the train backwards if it stalled. I've never heard of one getting stuck at the top with passengers in.

I think TTD has got stuck at the top with passengers at least once, not sure if any others.

Yes it has done I believe. Usually they encourage people to try and shift their weight around and if that doesn't work I think one of the engineers takes the lift up and shoves the car

It depends how the weight is distributed in the train! TTD and Kingda Ka have both done the same.

Stealth had a quiet infamous stall about, ohh, 4-5 years ago now where it got stuck on the top hat with passengers on and iirc they eventually called in the fire brigade to get and engineer up there to hit the train hard enough until it moved because they didn't have any system to do it themselves, it made the news around here because the passengers were stuck up there for hours similar to Ramasese at Chessington, it's why there was (last time I was there anyway) the cable hanging from the middle of the structure so they could get someone up there easier and quicker if it happened again.

I may not be remembering the precise details exactly here, but this isn't the first time Stealth has stalled on the top hat and needed help coming back down.

Surprised it doesn't have a lift system attached to the towers, like the taller ones do. Would mean engineers could get up there quicker (and safer).

Stealth has never stalled at the top with guests on.

The only time it has ever stalled at the top was in 2008, during a morning test run before the park opened for the day.

We're going to Thorpe Park on opening weekend, and I really want to do The Walking Dead: The Ride but I'm nervous about the actors. Are they always in there? And are the scares intense? I'm a massive wimp!

Thank you! Never done a scare maze or anything like because I'm nervous about the actors getting up in my face haha

I did Darkest Depths at Towers as my first ever scare maze last year and really enjoyed it. The actors were fantastic, not too in-your-face. Theming was top-notch too, I recommend giving it a go this year if you feel up to it!

Thank you!
I've been to Thorpe Park once but we didn't go on Colossus - is it worth the headache?
It's a very rough coaster, and I'm not a fan of it at all, but it's worth a try once if you've never done it before; some people don't find it too bad!
