Fingers crossed Italy are coming out of their peak period now. Spain are probably in the middle of theirs and we are entering ours. Going to be a rough few weeks here but we will get through this. Positive thoughts needed now.

Indeed Spain endured their worst 24 hours of new cases gathering at a rapid pace.

And unfortunately their highest rises in deaths. Including the horrible story about the nursing home where residents were abandoned to fend for themselves.

The UK had a weird blip where maybe we started to follow advice and we saw a split different strategies from the UK public.

Interestingly the deaths dipped slightly on that day as well. I think we're about 4-7 days from the peak which is absolutely terrifying.

Hard data statistical blips happen.
Especially at a weekend.
Probably a backlog in recording.
Heard yesterday that cremation backlog has meant remote crematoria having to be used.

Premier Inn have announced that all their hotels are closed until 30th April / seems all the others are catching up to stop bookings as well.

Seen more idiots going by today than yesterday so still the message isn’t strong enough. Flower shop on the corner has decided to stay open

Hopefully Italy will see further drops today in cases and deaths. I fear in the UK we may see an increase this week and next from the idiots out on the weekend in mass groups. However we should start to see a decline then into week 2, although, looking how packed London transport is today I'm not sure!

After looking at Daily Mail about people queuing at shops, hopefully after today it’ll die down.

There’s definitely some who are panic buying after the announcement yesterday.

London transport is a mess, the new lower capacity is causing the full buses / tubes but there is obviously some travelling who don’t need to.

If we keep seeing scenes like today I wouldn’t be surprised if they shut the underground down. But that’s going to inconvenience the key workers.

just received this text
WTF?
are they trying to kill me off with panic.

:(

I didnt think I had one, or one that I would need further advice on . one thats going to kill me off when I get the virus :(

Keep as calm as possible, you will endure. Look after yourself as much as possible and you'll have the best chance to beat this :)

I know from your posts you have been worried about work but hopefully this will help relax you just a smidgen.

thats not the text I got, mine was from the NHS , today was the day they are identifying vulnerable people to self isolate for 12 weeks :(
Honestly dude, the wording in that text you got just suggests there sending a coverall to everyone in the country then following up with those with High Risk Illnesses.

Nothing to panic over :)

In theory you should see a massive drop off after 14 days of total lockdown, becuase if people done as they were told and stayed indoors the virus would die out naturally, but this isn't the case, how long has Italy and France been in really draconian lockdowns and yet their numbers continue to increase?

I think France has just moved into a prison scenario, I.e. You are only allowed out for one hour in every 24, must be alone, and cannot travel further than 1km from your home, and I believe if you break this without permission, it's instant prison for 14 days, no charges, no trial, no jury, a real dictatorship - it will be really interesting to see if this makes a difference over there in say two weeks, if there is a massive drop off in cases, because if there is, then this is the model we need here because as evident almost everywhere now, the boomers and gen z's have the least respect for this, I must admit to being suprised that my dad, who is a boomer and very much a "I'll do what I like when I like" attitude, has completely locked himself away without needing too much convincing, yet on the flip side, two other boomers I know are proudly still posting on Facebook how they won't be doing as they are told - the sad thing is, it'll be people like my dad and my wife's uncle that will catch it and these other two idiots won't.

If worse comes to worse and we run out of cells, just requisition the Premier Inns and Travelodges and use them as makeshift detention centers becuase given how this thing seems to spread, a super draconian curfew and lockdown may well be what's needed, I think this is what Singapore did yes? Closed their borders immediately and shutdown the country.

Thankfully I don't need to go out until the weekend, so Netflix here we come lol.

It's very difficult to take a lock down seriously though when 8000 or so people are still flying in to Heathrow each week from affected countries. China and Singapore's cases are mostly not imported , with Singapore highlighting many of theirs are people who have come from the UK!

So can I still go to the field and fly a drone alone?

Maybe I should ask advice from @pluk since he is on the frontline, so pluk, I want to exercise by walking up a mile long track to a patch of grass a mile from the civilisation, while I'm there, I want to sit down and exercise my eyes while I watch a drone fly around, then once done I will go back down the track to my car to go home.

So, and I won't quote you on this, but what is your take on this, as a frontline officer, have you been given guidance on what to do if you come across a single person walking down a path? What guidance have you been give, if we can ask?

I'm currently self isolating as my daughter has had the symptoms last weekend, so I'm a bit out of the loop I'm afraid.

The obvious question seems to he have you gone out to exercise? The obvious answer in your scenario is no! Going out to do your hobby that involves sitting down and wiggling your thumbs a bit does not fit any reasonable definition of exercise even if you are walking to get there.

I've got no idea how this is being policed at the moment, or even if it meaningfully is to be honest. While we certainly have contingency plans for almost any loose foreseeable scenario we'd have only got the message from the PM pretty much at the same time you did yesterday, and I understand some of the powers to police implementation are still being finalised. Our response is probably still being written so noone would be able to give you a definitive yet.

Why not just stay at home and not fly your drone for a couple of weeks? To anyone, if you're not sure if you should be doing what you are thinking of doing then don't do it. Your instinctive concern is probably well placed.
