Two things come straight to mind

1. Why does he and Prince Charles qualify to be tested when the front line NHS staff could do with being tested to see who has it or not so that the NHS staff can come out of self isolation and help out at the hospital?

2. How can we all take the government advice seriously if he himself failed to keep the virus at bay?

I was going to say exactly that, but though I might get told off again as someone would obviously come out and say I was wishing harm or taking amusement so yes, thanks for saying exactly what I was thinking.

Regarding 2, I'm sure many, media included, will now fall over themselves to try and say he did follow his own instructions, but you only have to go back and watch the briefings to see they were not exercising social distancing while entering the room, so at the risk of being gagged, oh how the mighty and rightous have fallen.

Because I also like my freedom and the police having these powers to stop you for no reason other than they want to as in their eyes everyone is a criminal

We have done nothing wrong, but we are all criminals now.,

go out, to shop for food,. get stop and questioned and justify why you are out

go out to exercise, get stop and questioned and justify why you are out

:(

police using drones to spy on everyone

:(

Because, and I don't want to single out @bluesonichd because I don't believe he was one calling for it, but many people who were doing this last week, i.e. calling for lockdown, are now the very same ones finding it isn't the unicorns and fairies they thought it was.

As for the copper tweet, either I'm looking at the wrong bit of legislation, or they're indulging in a bit of super trolling which undoubtly would if the circumstances and person doing the tweeting was different, would result in an arrest, but hey, it's the Police doing it, so it's just a joke, right?

There is no s13 or 14 of that act.

They only have rights of detention if you are exhibiting COVID-19 symptoms, but someone like @pluk will know for sure, no doubt it's just a bit of fun and we should stop overreacting....

Apparently Britain is now on course for around 6,000 coronavirus deaths in total, as the social distancing measures have apparently been working. I can't remember where I saw the article, but it definitely said something about the coronavirus death toll now being modelled to be less than that of seasonal flu in Britain, compared with nearly 30,000 predicted under the initial model.

The economy has apparently also jumped again, with something like its biggest jump in one day since 1933 or something like that; I'll have to find where I read this.
EDIT: Here's the article that said the statistic about the economy: https://apple.news/ASpi_0j_PQbKOzwk9SCaisg

It doesn't worry me. It is clear people can't follow "guidance" and stricter measures were necessary. There is no problem with going for a walk around town. I've not heard anyone being questioned for doing so. Same with food shopping. Walking in a remote area is unquestionably not essential and not sticking to the guidance. A car crash would put a strain on the NHS. If a couple of widely publicised arrests/fines scares people into being sensible then good.

but walking around my small crowded park is o_O

I know I would rather be miles from anyone than than walking and trying to keep 2 meters from the person around me
Have a walk around town, everyone flocking to the park isn't a good idea either as evidenced by two members of my family who went for a run and came home complaining it's busy. However the last thing we want is to spend resources on responding to car accidents or for people to get lost in the hills.

... I live in Mansfield.. have you seen the state of Mansfield, why anyone would want to walk around there I dont know

and then get stopped and fined, because thats how the GOV are going to recoup all the money they are spending

They can only fine you if they know who you are, in their rush to push through this legislation they kind of err, forgot to include a secfion that requires you to identify yourself to a copper on demand or carry identification, and they keep forgetting to do this, wonder why? There is an increasingly large percentage of the population who know and exercise these rights to not do this, much to the annoyance of some who love the old saying "if you've nothing to hide, where's the problem?" and afaik the only time you have to identify yourself is if you are in a car.

Of course a copper with a giant chip on his shoulder can arrest you under a made up public order offence and bang you up for 72 hours while they attempt to obtain your identity, then let you go just to make life difficult, but I'd rather hope the Police have a little more important things to do in the not too distant future insread of punishing people who know their rights because they have nothing better to do....

I'd also rather disagree with people who say travelling to an isolated spot for exercise is not essential, but alas, you lot were begging for these restrictions last week, so enjoy your new prison cell (aka home) and don't complain about it now, a person taking a walk in the countryside has just as much chance of being injuried as a guy riding round his estate on his bike, so stop with the hysterical fear mongering, that's what got us in lockdown in the first place.

He's the Prime Minister tbf. He was probably tested weekly even without symptoms as he's leading the country through the outbreak and regularly meeting with health professionals.

Struggling to find an argument for Prince Charles being tested though.

You forgot, he is the heir to the thrown, that's pretty important in some people's eyes, no?

I was in no way wishing harm or death in my post

PM and Charles are important people, but so are our NHS staff, they need to be tested and have the appropriate PPE

Video of PM say's he took test as advised after symptoms started to show.

Matt Hancock has also been tested for Covid-19

I think it is quite right that the Prime Minister, the person in charge of our response to this pandemic, is tested after showing symptoms. Especially when you consider how many interactions he is likely to have had with other important figures over the past couple of weeks, not least the Chief Medical Officer and Chief Scientific Advisor.

Oh the irony is strong with this one, not exercising his own social distancing while entering the briefing rooms, while on live tv, makes you wonder what he was doing behind closed doors now, using terms such as "last gasp fight" and "wrapping arms around workers" when you've told people not to touch others and victims are literally drowning while taking their last gasps in their fight for life... You can only flirt so much with it before irony slaps you in the face...

Makes you wonder whether the loss of liberties we are to experience for the next six months (before you tell me it's just three weeks, no it is not, read the legislation) was as a result of genuine medical advice or someone bring pissed off at the realisation they were about to be outed for ignoring their own advice.

I hop none of them suffer too badly, but they won't be getting any sympathy from me, just hope he didn't infect his future wife an unborn child with it.

I didn't mean to insinuate you were @RoyJess, neither was I but it didn't stop people interpreting what I said as being a wish for mass deaths.

Went to the corner shop as they are the only place in town with loo roll. A 9 pack of the stuff, 2 bottles of beer, 2 cartons of juice and a pack of biscuits came to £39.
Won't be shopping there again.

Said shop was filled with middle aged mothers shouting at the price of cider.

I would have walked out at those prices! Can live without loo roll (shower and use a washcloth/sponge if needed). That stuff shouldn't have cost more than £20 even in a small shop.

One positive of using drones for such measures is that it prevents face to face contact between the public and the police/council officials, which helps prevent them passing on the virus to you or you passing it on to them.

I get that it is controversial but council's and the police have a duty to protect their staff. And anyone could be carrying the virus and not displaying symptoms.
