Does anybody else find the Russian figures suspiciously low? 840 cases and 13 deaths in the largest country in the world seems lower than you'd expect.
However the population density is only 8.4/km^2 compared to 270.7/km^2 in the UK so the virus wouldn't spread as quickly.
I suppose the Russians are more used to their government intervening than we are.A couple of the guys I race with who are from Russia have said they closed the borders almost immediately (about a month ago iirc), only Russian nationals were allowed to enter and anybody who did was put in strict quarantine for 14 days, basically what we should of done originally.
They said it's pretty much life as normal, they find our reaction and restrictions very amusing, small pockets of cases pop up and when they do the whole area is put into quarantine and everybody locked down until the infection rate hits zero.
So the Russian figures are probably somewhere between the truth and China's explanations, not quiet as bad as China, but not quiet as honest as say Italy.

BBC said:
- Russia has now recorded 1,000 confirmed cases and three deaths. It has ordered all cafes and restaurants to close from Saturday and next week has been designated a "non-working week"
I guess closing the borders wasn't so effective after all.
Cue Corbyn demanding he takes over as Boris isn’t “up to the job”
Whoop! Free Broadband everyone,, we are savedCue Corbyn demanding he takes over as Boris isn’t “up to the job”
Joking aside, free broadband would actually make a lot of sense with so many job losses and folks staying inside and... using the internet.Whoop! Free Broadband everyone,, we are saved
Same could be argued for utilities.Joking aside, free broadband would actually make a lot of sense with so many job losses and folks staying inside and... using the internet.
.....and Boris has Coronovirus btw.
I lean towards nationalisation for essential utilities anyway and I view the internet as an essential utility. My opinion on that matter has little to do with the coronavirus! The virus has highlighted the importance of speedy internet for all and I see no advantage in splitting human resources between multiple service providers.Same could be argued for utilities.
Completely agree that anyone who’s lost a job due to this situation should be treated with respect and understanding. I think most businesses would be very flexible at the moment but as always if you find yourself in a situation where you can’t afford things you must speak out and let the businesses you deal with aware of your own situation.
As we’ve seen already some big players are helping where they can, Sky for example effectively giving you Sports for free but then you have BT who won’t budge on the issue.
Social pressure will right the wrongs of businesses who aren’t being flexible, look at the National Trust pages for one. They’ve closed everything and aren’t going to pause / extended memberships.
