It's a good move I think, a lot of enthusiasts go to Wetherspoons for opening weekend, so makes sense for PB to try to attract them instead; builds a good rapport with fans, and helps pay for the next tin of paint for Valhalla!

There are better bars in the same building, but with it being tied to Pasaje, it makes sense I guess.

Amanda had suggested that they were thinking about reopening the Jolly Roger which is a far superior establishment.

To find that Tweet I had to search "bar mandsthompson twitter" ... which if you're reading Elon ... feel free to take that literally.

I'm pretty sure I have drunk in all the bars in the casino over the years, but I'm sure they changed places and names of them for fun.
I have drunk in them all, and been drunk in them all.

Honestly I don’t even have a clue what the Jolly Roger bar is/was. But then I only just went in the Horror Bar for the first time recently. I don’t think I’d even had a drink on the park until I met a certain grey haired old man.

Is the Jolly Roger somewhere in the Casino building then? Never mind that, re-open the Loki’s bar & balcony next

Lokis’ balcony was being refurbished last season Dave. In a normal park that would suggest it’ll reopen; in Pleasure Beach, who knows. One would have thought there will be at least an initial surge of focus on getting it open with Valhalla.

The Jolly Roger is on the first floor of the Casino building. If you climb the spiral stairs which face into Noah’s Ark, you come across the entrance themed to the hull of an old sailing ship at the stairs landing. I’ve never actually been in there sadly, but I’d be intrigued to see it and “complete the set” of Casino bar creds like Rob has.

If anyone has been inside, I’d love to hear what it’s like. Does the nautical themeing continue inside?

Thanks @venny Considering how long I’ve been visiting the park for, I’ve never explored the Casino building much. I had no idea there was another bar upstairs, in fact I’ve never even been up the stairs! The nearest I’ve been to that floor is circling round it on the sadly missed Monorail.

Just thought it was the White Tower restaurant, and offices / Art Deco flat, etc, upstairs. I’d like to think Loki’s will reopen when Valhalla does. The balcony is great on a warm day, watching people come off Valhalla soaked, moaning and emptying their shoes, is always entertaining

There's the Paradise Room up the same spiral starecase as well. Can be a massive room with 2 bars and a stage.

I can even remember the original american cafe in what is now the ticket office...
Sitting in there having a light meal, drooling over the Reel.
Loki's was being worked on just before the end of the season, reopening as food and beer, with Valhalla, whenever that is.

Image by BPB; Big Dipper is now undergoing its 100th-anniversary tart up:

It's always interesting seeing really old photos of the parks and seeing how the top of the dippers lift hill had different designs over the years and that the onion/tear drop current design must be 40ish years old itself now.

Hopefully they'll be sprucing it up, maybe painting it gold for the 100th anniversary season.
