Nemesis: Sub-Terra

And after my last injury...I'm finally allowed back on ladders.
Next Tuesday folks if it isn't raining?
Plenty of white/magnolia emulsion, but it might wash off in the rain.

If they are sticking with the ret-conned version of the story with the track being the steel that is holding it down, then the story will likely be that the Monster is evolving, growing stronger and the new Black steel is reinforced, stronger material that is needed to restrain it.
I suspect the characters from the "Goodnight Nemesis" video will feature prominently in the new Sub-Terra story.
I would have considered as a new story that the monster is now effectively evolving, that it has now become after 30 years half monster and half machine joined together.

I think your idea is the most likely outcome.

Team Edit: The below video shows a recent aerial view of the Nemesis Sub Terra area.

What are we making of this then?

Have some of the numbers been repainted on the floor in that first pre show part? Feel like I can see “03” but I’ve viewed on a small screen so not sure. Also not sure if it was already like that.

The building looks like an absolute state. It needs a full repaint! The Phalanax logo is half missing on the exit corridor container.

They'll probably only run it for one season whilst Nemesis is down then scrap it. I understand not many have been on this ride, but for me it's very average.

If Alton Towers are investing into reopening Sub-Terra for this year, I’d sincerely hope that they intend for it to run past 2023.

Even though it’s not my personal cup of tea at all (or at least wasn’t in its original form), I still value the fact that they are adding another dark ride into the lineup, and given that many feel that the park lacks filler attractions, I think that would definitely be worth holding onto even once Nemesis reopens.

There’s no way they are re investing in this for one year to then just scrap it. If it returns, it’ll be here to stay this time I firmly believe. If you’re gonna just re invest for one season (which won’t happen) it’s probably not even worth it - capacity or no capacity.

Depends what they are investing in I guess?

We don’t know what capacity it’s coming back in just yet.

I believe the fact that they won’t need to staff Nemesis in 2023 will go someway to paying for the staff for Sub Terra without increasing the overall wage bill.

Its existence beyond 2023 will probably come down to a mixture of budgets and how well it’s received this year. If it gets poor feedback again, it could be up for the chop. Hopefully not though.

That's my thinking, patch it up for a year with the ride staff that were operating Nemesis then see how it goes. It's not like they've totally refurbished the building anyway, which it probably needs in the long term.

They won't run rides just for the sake of it helping with queues,

Seen no evidence of real expenditure so far, but there could be of course.

There will be a loss of over 1000 people per hour capacity with Nemesis closed, Sub-Terra is being revived purely to try and mitigate that somewhat. However, it could remain open into 2024 depending on its ability increase the all-important "rides per guest" metric these days.

They can also use it to convey Nemmy's new story. I have a feeling that "John Dalton" (the head of the Phalanx, who appeared on video at the closing event) could feature in the new pre-show video. Would make sense given the way the story appears to be going.

They’re not reopening a ride to then shut it again a year later at a time when they’re drafting in fairground rides to account for the lack of filler attractions at the park, absolute madness to think otherwise.

Of course there’s always the slim chance that it isn’t reopening as a ride at all, and is a walkthrough experience or something, in which case perhaps it may only be temporary, but a) that’s unlikely and b) if it were the case I’d suspect something permanent would be brought in to replace it next year.

Sub-Terra, at least in its old format, is staff heavy, it will not be a shoo-in to be retained as its operating costs are much higher than a fairground flat which one person can staff. I would say there is a reasonable chance it will remain into 2024, but that it's by no means certain.

A reminder that they are charging £68 before discounts to enter this year. Presumably we will be at about £75 this time next year. They're interested in maximising income without peeving too many guests off and generating damaging "I only got on X rides" comments/reviews online. Sub-Terra has been stood there for years - obviously hired flats were preferential to running it in the past, and that is worth remembering.
