This was guest services when I was leaving at around 11.50 a.m:

No idea if they were all moaning about how busy the place was, the headline ride being out of action or trying to get their children priority wristbands because they had a peanut allergy a few years back, or what.

A poor poor showing from Towers for a start to a new season. If you're going to close loads of attractions, at least make sure that your surviving rides are ready to go when the park opens, or at least open at all (Smiler). Also, why the fudge were the Towers ruins not open, again? OK, so I could have just slipped down the side of the barrier in the conservatory, but I didn't want to be a d**k about it, as the barrier clearly symbolised that the public were not welcome in there. Half of it is probably still boarded up anyway, so I'm not that desperate to get in there.

On the other hand, very busy morning to be fair. Lots of queues I couldn't be bothered to wait in everywhere! Probably shouldn't have broken my 'Never go on a Saturday' rule to be fair, but I didn't think it would be that busy.

On the whole, what a load of old s**t!

The ruins were open, all day! Spent a good hour walking around all the rooms that've been closed so much recently. Even the ramparts bit just to the right as you enter HLG was open.

EDIT: Chapel proof ;)

Looks like the reliability issues are persisting this morning with Oblivion, The Smiler, Thirteen and Galatica all unavailable at present. However it does look like they have opened Rita earlier than planned to compensate. Postman Pat, Go Jetter and Marauder's Mayhem are also all down according to Ride Times.

As I have said in another thread, I hope this is just start of season gremlins and not Towers going to way of Thorpe.

:)

Are they actually opening Dark Forest, Hex & CCL from 10:30am like it says on the website or from 10am? Ridetimes.co.uk has shown them as open from 10am today as Rob mentioned?

Also, are the rapids opening at 10am this year?

You could get into the areas on Saturday but the attractions did not open until 10.30am. I can only assume Rita has opened early today to compensate for the closed coasters.

Unsure about the Rapids, they've been showing as open at 10am each day but not seen myself whether this is actually the case.

I've heard a couple of people mention that they were 'open' later on in the day. However, the point is, I'd left the park by 11.50 a.m. as it felt as if half of the park was still shut. In the morning, the doors both sides of the Towers were locked and the barrier was across the entrance from the conservatory. Not open. Whether a helpful member of the public decided to move the barrier in the conservatory to 'make it open' or whether staff realised they should have unlocked it a few hours into the day, it was no good to people like me who had had enough and was probably driving down some country road hours away when they actually opened up properly. It's done now and I'll be back sometime soon when I don't have to queue too long for rides, rides are actually open, and the Towers ruins are open. It's not a problem. I just don't see the point in people telling me that they were open when it's obvious that they weren't whilst I was in the park (well, the chapel was, someone obviously decided to open that, but not bother with the actual Towers).

The security was not that good ... :D I found it like that. Honest

Looks like all coasters bar The Smiler have now opened. Maybe a case of technical services struggling to sort out all rides before park opening? Or Towers using the quieter mornings as a time to carry out some work on the coasters?

:)

Loved visiting the park yesterday. Hex was awesome and well worth the wait! Our only serious gripe was the queue line at the driving school which was terribly managed. This attraction should not offer Fast Track due to the number of kids that can take part at any single time and the slow turn around. By only having 10 cars, to then allow the Fast Track guests to sweep up 70% of the cars before the main queue, this was causing serious issues. Needs sorting out fast as parents and kids were getting very annoyed and rightly so.

Reminds me of why we stopped going to the Scarefest meet (before we quit owning MAPs). The meet was always on the first weekend, when things constantly failed, it was busy, and a certain type of guest we prefer to avoid were there in large numbers. Not good when you have to travel a long way to get there... made far worse by seeing everyone bragging about how much better Scarefest was a week later when they "popped in after work"... That's great for you, but what about the rest of us?

Sometimes I feel the park locals on this lovely forum forget that for some of us, "It's OK, just come back next week and things will be fine" is not an option. ;)

Did you get a clear answer to this?

Nope, went again today and refilled as soon as I walked in during the last 10 minutes of ERT no questions asked. Besides they didn't tell me to keep my receipt or write the date of purchase. Plus seeing as they said on twitter it's season(https://twitter.com/altontowers/status/845988750211645441) they can't go and change it now, can they?

If you were in the Towers street box office Sunday round 17:30 then I'm the guy storming out before they meltdown, not a fun end to the day.

On better news, they did have smoke effects and all the exterior lights and sounds on The Smiler turned on as well as the dummies seated on the trains today. (No train's running, not even tests)
