2019: Rulantica

I'm unsure how long this has been known for but it appears that the water park, or Water Advenure Resort as EP are calling it, will now not open until 2019.

The website also states that the hotel is due to open in 2019 although we were given the impression over new year that they hoped to open it much sooner.

You can see in the latest plan for the area how much room there is for various future expansion:

:)

They had originally hoped it would open 'late 2018' (i.e. October) - but I think it will be late spring 2019.

The hotel may open sooner, though?

Here's an interesting image in the photo gallery on the webpage Rob linked to. It suggests that there could be future expansion onto the huge land parcel between the water park and the motorway at Ringsheim.

It's quite intriguing really when you look at the scale. I was aware of the planned expansion in vicinity of the water park, but seeing them already planning expansion to the Autobahn has me intrigued. That's quite a chunk of land when you look at the scale of both the water park and the main park. I don't imagine EP creating a separate park, nor can I see the waterpark ever becoming that large to warrant that chunk of land.

I'm curious if another hotel (likely) and/or retail/entertainment district (less likely) might be something for EP. Although it's not a large tourist area or major city, I think on a small scale it might be feasible.

Thomas Mack has been keeping us updated with progress on the hotel/waterpark over on Twitter:

Looks like these foundations relate to the hotel.

:)

Screamscape have posted the following preview image for the Water Adventure Resort which is the already seen concept image with some annotations:

Contruction is progressing well now, Thomas Mack has posted these photos of the hotel:

I expect that it will really start flying up!

:)

Looopings have got hold of some concepts and information about the Water Adventure Resort hotel; the first concept was previously shown at EAS last year however we did not get a clear image at the time. The hotel (and probably the waterpark) will tie in with the Adventure Club of Europe. It appears that the hotel will be some sort of natural history museum:

Looks like it could be quite different to the other Resort hotels!

:)

Good spot! Looks like a nice potential bar space behind the staircase as well.

:)

Thomas Mack posted some new construction photos a couple of weeks ago:

He also posted this photo showing off the model of the water park:

By far the most practical details that we have seen so far. It looks like it will have 2 levels in places.

:)

A big wave pool by the looks of it.

Have they left plenty of room for an indoor expansion? Would be such a shame if they locked themselves in on all sides like Splash Landings is.

Ladies and gentleman, boys and girls, Europa-Park give this gift to us all. Rulantica!

Funny how that name has been floating around for quite a while. The waterpark will feature 25 attractions with a total area of 40,600 square metres. The outdoor area will be 8,000 square metres.

Here is another look at the model previously posted:

EDIT:

Michael Mack has now posted this:

Rulantica is a legendary island that the waterpark will be based on. Will be interesting to see how faithful it is to thar concept, if it is even just a bit close the theming could be incredible!

:)

And a new post for some information on the new hotel - Kronasar - The Museum Hotel. This will be 4 star superior.

:)

Oh dear, they seem to be stagnating at "4 star superior". Surely it's about time they stepped up their game to 7 star state apartments, each with their own personal wine cellar, buttler, maids, masseuse, and assortment of "escorts"?
