General Hotel Discussion

I am often quick to criticise the food offerings at Alton Towers; the on park options are especially poor again this year. However I had lunch in ATH on Tuesday and the new lunch menu available at the Dragon Bar and in the Secret Garden Restaurant is very good:

There are far more options than before (it used to be a choice of a few flatbreads or sandwiches). I went for the brisket burger:

And very nice it was! Interested in trying one of the deli boards next time.

:)

Disappointed the Three burgers they offer and two of the deserts are the same as the evening menu so have already tried them.
I do like the deli boards tho. The Cajun chicken very moist and tasty.
I will never be thin and beautiful at this rate :(

Sorry to put you off your meal Rob, but am I the only one looking at that photo and thinking how unhygienic that chopping board looks? :screamcat:

I actually didn't even notice that until now! Ah well, it all tasted good and I've not been ill, so that's the main thing! :p

Christ, will this trend of serving restaurant food on wooden boards ever end?!

What is wrong with a plate?

Yesterday they had a feature on Good Morning Britain with regards to restaurants serving food on alternative to plates,

"Do you enjoy going to a fancy restaurant and having your food served up in weird and wonderful ways? For example - chips in high heels, full english breakfast on a shovel, a classic cottage pie in a pint glass..."

That chopping bard was full of cut's not good for harbouring bacteria. The only true way to disinfect a chopping board is to bleach it, simply just washing it is not just good enough. I presume they have a standard way to disinfect them

My son made himself a little unpopular in ATH back in June by asking, totally off his own back, for 'a clean plate to use instead of the dirty breadboard'. I guess the only reason he got away with it was cos he looks about 11, I imagine an adult might have got a talking to if they'd said that.

I know I hate all this customer is always right bollocks but when it comes to food I think its perfectly fine to ask for a plate if you don't want it on a board. I too am baffled as to why they do this.

I was once offered a starter in an army canteen.... I asked if we were in a war zone and i hadn't noticed, the waitress, bless her, gave me a sympathy laugh said I wasn't alone and would I like it on a plate.

Plates are made for food, use them for this.

ANYWAY - its nice to see a proper lunch available in the hotel.

Guys.... food is food, just eat the damn thing. It tastes the same, does the same thing, and comes out the same no matter how it's presented.

-EDIT-

And now I'm really hungry. Thanks!

It's handled by the same team who disinfect the Galactica goggles.

Can you imagine the glow that would come off those things if they did a UV light test...

You'd never want want to touch them again let alone put them anywhere near your face.
