Blackpool Pleasure Beach: Icon - 2018 Mack Double Launch Coaster

Everyone seems to be comparing Icon to Helix, but Taron is actually not too bad a comparison. Probably closer than Helix. Whilst Taron’s clearly a great ride there’s also a fair few people who would say it could be improved with an inversion or two or that the one twist after another thing is a little monotonous. In a way that’s perhaps what Icon may end up reflecting. Albeit we do have a couple of inversions on Icon which Taron doesn’t!

I think the layout has a good few moments where there is potential for airtime; the first hill, double down into second launch, airtime hill (just before the helix) and the outer-banked airtime hill in particular.

It is almost time.

Very nice indeed, hopefully we will see some of this landscaping materialise!

Just a thought, I wonder what features Blackpool have gone for on the trains. Will they just be standard trains, or might there be add-ons such as a lighting package or onboard audio? Something tells me they won't have gone for the vibrating seat option!

:)

Was thinking the same, it looks like it’s got a set of lights at the front.

Well headlights would match all their other big coasters.
Is this supposed to have a Norse "theme"? Seems a bit far from Valhalla if that's the case.

The trains don't have onboard audio, just the lighting package.

Once the landscaping is complete, it will look like a Japanese orchard with blossom on trees, pagodas and rock work. Icon does have a story behind it, believe it or not.
Fountain / waterfall?
