Alternatively, consider that 'creds' are an arbitary willy-swinging competition fostered by over-determined US coaster enthusiasts with more money than sense, and that really it's just about having a nice time, rather than charting up statistics. That's just me though!

If your parents are intent on rushing to ICON first thing they’ll be waiting half an hour for it to open.

I equally don’t really get the cred thing. It’s nice to have an idea how many coasters you’ve been on, but if half of them are wacky worms does it really matter? Enjoy them for what they are, not what number they are on some superficial list.

Personally I don't get the cred / ride count thing either. I prefer to enjoy the rides, atmosphere of the park and company (unless I'm alone of course!) than have my head stuck in a phone (someone may have to explain to @rob666 what a mobile telephone is) or a notebook updating ride numbers etc.

The only exception to this, and the only time I've scribbled notes down, was the day when for a laugh I decided to ride each ride in order from newest to oldest, starting with Skyforce (pre-Icon visit) and ending with Flying Machines. I decided to exclude Valhalla & Lost River Flume because I couldn't be arsed with having wet shoes all day nor did I want to cut into the time by going back & forth to a locker to change clothes/shoes & it wasn't a warm enough day to dry out in the sun! I also left out the Giant Spinning Plate of Evil (Airbender) after nearly losing my lunch the only time I'd been on it, and the kiddy rides in Nick Land, but I did of course ride Streak & Blue Flyer. Stopped briefly for lunch but otherwise it was straight from one ride to the next on the list. In some cases it was a fair walk (Ice Blast to The Big One) but I made myself do them in order and the exercise was part of the fun. Somewhere I will still have the tatty piece of paper with the ride opening dates on & the timings of when I rode them, how long it took to walk between them, etc. The only rides that took up much time really were Skyforce (waiting for planes to fill up as it was quiet) and Flying Machines, as it takes ages for the flaming things to slow down, get people on it and get the ride going. At least that was the last ride of the day. Oh and I didn't do Impossible cos its rubbish and if I want to see a room spinning in front of me, I'd sooner have 10 pints first. Sadly the Wild Mouse was 'closed for maintenance' as well, gutted that I didn't to it a season earlier really. Still, I must have done over 20 different rides.

Actually reading that back, that was a VERY nerdy thing to do. Other than that I never feel compelled to do anything in order or count rides etc! Might post my timings when I find the sheet, it really is impressive how quickly you can go from ride to ride at BPB on a quiet day. I don't think you'd get on 20+ different rides at any other park in such a short timeframe

I agree dippy...
A very nerdy thing to do.
I think the only time I have ever done a rides done list was my first very quiet day at the Towers...forgotten the total now, but I treated my nephew, I know we were allowed to go round on the rapids seven times without getting out of our seats, total rides on the day was around 40, including monorail and sky ride.
Done 40 rides in a day many times at the Beach, far easier there.

20+ rides, you say? Ooh, I'm very optimistic about my day at BPB, then!

Out of interest, is Icon a staggered opening then @venny? If it is, then it may very well still be in the running to be #50! Would be strangely fitting given that Wicker Man (the other new-for-2018 coaster in the UK) was my 40th! But I'll probably make my 50th something with a bit more historical significance. Or it'll most probably just be whichever ride just so happens to be #50 in the natural order of things!

That should be doable at any park that's run properly. You've just had your expectations set so low by Merlin. ;)
Oh right... thanks @DiogoJ42! I don't remember getting 20+ rides in at any of the Florida parks either, though. Although I suppose my parents have promised me that we will most likely be going into BPB for 10am and leaving at 7pm; we've never stayed the whole day at a park before!

That was mid May though, not August summer hols. I'm sure you'll get on everything you want to, but not as quickly as I did that day, when several rides were walk on. I pretty much did those 21 rides from 11:30 to 3:30, including all the walking and lunch, which is pretty good going. Remember on days like that there are a few hundred people on park as opposed to a few thousand !

Your visit better be good after this epic buildup, we're all on tenterhooks to see how your first BPB visit is :)

Because the guy who runs RCDB is a total spoon.

That was pretty much the conclusion I was forced to arrive at after seeing that.

PersonallyI don't get the cred thing. I have always enjoyed walking through Pleasure land in Southport, I don't however feel it necessary to part with hard earned cash to ride a big apple coaster so that I can have the satisfaction of another cred. The mentality of that baffles me.

I won't pay for a crappy kiddy coaster, but in a pay one price park, I'll grab the cred if I have time.

I always counted Vikingar as a coaster prior to its removal from rcdb and have continued to do so since.

Being on rcdb is neither a necessary nor a sufficient criteria to define something as a coaster.

I count creds but I will only do kiddie creds if I’m nearby. I won’t travel far for one!

It doesn’t affect my day at all as I don’t count how many rides during the day. I just do all new rides in a park without taking notes and sort it all when I’m back home and I have nothing better to do.

I know I have an over the top spreadsheet tracking everything but I’ve expanded it over the years, usually over Xmas when work is quiet

Same here. Although the only kiddie coaster I've ever been able to bring myself to ride for the first time since becoming an enthusiast is Flying Fish at Thorpe when it only had a 5 minute queue! I still need Octonauts at Alton to get their complete set... maybe in August.

It's all a matter of opinion really. Out of interest, what is Vikingar and where was it located?

Vikingar was a side-friction coaster with a water splash - basically a retro version of Tidal Wave. Despite rcdb seemingly claiming otherwise it was definitely a proper coaster and the car never left the track as it dipped into the splash down, coming out of the water at the other end rather than floating round a trough.

Vikingar was located to the left of Valhalla (hence the name, prior to Valhalla opening it was simply known as the Water Chute). The ride can still be found on rcdb - sort of. There are a few photos of it on the main BPB page: https://rcdb.com/4795.htm

I don't get all this cred count, I lost count on how many rides I've been on years ago.

I don't get the need to outdo the next person in who has the highest ride count. I seen hostility between guest over who has the highest ride count, especially between VIP and non VIP pass holders, as the VIP has the upper hand in using the fast track queue lines.

I've even seen people standing at the turnstiles in the mornings totting up their ride count on their phones before the park even opens, before they even have got on the rides :rolleyes:

Thanks for the Vikingar info, guys! Out of interest, is it the ride at photos 5, 6, 7 and 8 on the RCDB page? If it is, I'm not too sure if I'd class that as a cred or not.
