2013: General Discussion

According to Towers2Go on Facebook, 3 ambulances are situated next to Sub Terra. No word on why they're there though.

It's worrying that there may be 3 ambulances there...

EDIT: According to The Alton Towers Guide, there are no ambulances outside the ride now. They've either left or the original story was made up.

After spotting that free Fanta was being handed out on Saturday, this was what greeted myself and Big Al as we waited for the Monorail to return to the carpark in the evening:

There were also various cans scattered along the floor. At least people had attempted to be organised in disposing of them by lining them along the wall, but maybe the addition of one or two bins in the queue would be helpful when free items are being handed out?

That's about 1/6 of the total amount left in and by the monorail station too. There was only one member of staff cleaning it all up. What a rubbish job to be left with. :(

Ba Dum Tss ;)

I've found the only image I've taken of the queue line floor, but it was a lot worse in some parts:

When I left at 3pm there were bins at every turn point of the walk way with two at some points. As long as these were still there and not full then it's people's fault not Altons.

Any litter is the fault of the guest, not the park's fault, but the park still need to clean the mess up quickly.

They know about the Krave and Fanta being handed out, so they need more staff to a) make sure the litter is going in the bin if they see someone drop some and b) clean up the dropped litter quicker.

Setting one member of staff to clean up in and around the Monorail station at one of the busiest parts of the day is hardly going to be very effective.

Seems that Sept opening times have appeared on website.

5pm ride close throughout.

Not that we really expected anything other than that - but why does it take until a week before it becomes Sept before they decide to advertise that ride close? Surely it makes quite an impact on bookings?!

5pm is a bit tight, I think that's been the underlying theme through the whole back end of the season. The park/company/god whoever is making these decisions must have a reason they are not willing to share with us. Still at least they overturned scarefest. Just

5pm is normal for September, and has been for years.

I am visiting this weekend so I checked the opening times only yesterday and could have sworn it was 18:00 - have they made a shock move and actually extended the opening time?

It was 6 last weekend. Maybe they've just extended for the last weekend of aug?

They just tweeted me back saying they have indeed extended it. What a unprecedented move from Towers, maybe they have read the forums! ;) It may only be an hour but its still better than the usual cuts

Well, to be fair to them, they've never openly said they were even considering 7pm ride closes over summer.

Least they're finally doing something though. Could've decided this last week though, past few days looking very busy from ridetimes.

Like always, more U-turns than a Tory government.

To be fair nearly all theme parks make last minute changes to ride closures. If the forecast of guest numbers is high most parks will make last minute changes to suite business needs (and customer satisfaction).

Good move for once though. It's a shame they haven't been doing this throughout the summer!

Online bookings will be relatively high for the weekend and they are also desperate to have increased numbers through the turnstiles now ahead of the float.

I hope they get good figures over this weekend. then they may think about making 7pm closing the norm for next summer.
