2014: Arthur in the Minimoys kingdom

Have they given a reason as to why? Otherwise I would suspect that unlike at Towers they have had a few technical problems (on what is an entirely new ride design) and while they probably could do a rushed job to finish it would rather everything is sorted out.

It will be technical.

Sad but there's a chance it'll open for Easter weekend.

BWAHAHAHAHAHA!!!! Nice one guys. You had me for a minute there.

*checks the date, realises it's not April the first*

... Oh. Well, as long as it's open for Junket, that's the main thing, right?

A ride opening delayed, geek venom spew forth.....

Venom?

Anywhere?

No?

Ohh forgot it's Mack

:D

Seriously though not good news but these things actually do happen.

Clearly very disappointed to learn of this.

Must be something pretty serious as the ride has been under construction for 18 months, which seemed like plenty of time...

Hopefully it's not a Smiler / Chiapas or even worse... HARTENHOF style delay and they get it open ASAP!

I think it is VERY embarrassing, that the attraction with the biggest advertising effort, the park ever did, and that was announced far in advance. After that they fail to meet the deadline for opening. The park could loose its good reputation here. Europa-Park has the ambition not to be any park, but the best.

As management I would make shure that the attraction will run in any circumstances at season opening, no matter the cost. And if they hire 100 more workers who work 24 hours a day.

And if really something fundamental will not be ready (such as no TÜV-approval for Arthur), so that the main attraction can not operate, it is in my opinion the wrongest thing just delete the opening date without comment from web sites and advertising materials and to hope nobody will notice. Especially in times of Facebook etc. this could backfire. OK, maybe we will see an official statement within the next days.

But anyway FAIL!

Something fairly serious must have happened, particularly considering the generous timescale the park gave themselves to finish in. Although I suppose the brand new ride system needs to be looked at as a probable cause of issues for the park.

Europe seems to be a calamity of delays recently though... The smiler, Chiapas and now this!

Roland should clearly retire if he can't get his park to opening this massive investment on time...

The French must be fuming since it's their gift too...

Shocking...

So they've gone and just removed all traces of the opening date from their website? Hmm that's certainly concerning and suggests that they don't actually know when it will be ready. Also, dare I say it, but just removing the date without any form of annoucement is a very Merlin/Towers thing to do.

It's never good when a new attraction isn't ready on time. I hope they can get it open ASAP. Considering the huge amount of time that they've spent contructing it you'd have to imagine it's a pretty serious issue.

:)

They removed the date "05.04.2014" (season opening) and replaced it with "spring 2014".

Edit:
Meanwhile there is a press release about that with no new information.

It's the Smiler all over again! From opening March 16th, to May 24th then to just May. Lets hope they sort it out (and get it open before Junket!).

I have to say, I have been saying to one or two people about this in recent weeks:

I had begun to question if there were problems for the ride because the park have been silent since Christmas about Arthur...

"Spring" could be defined as any time up to the end of May... let us hope it is sooner, preferably Easter weekend... but then, Easter weekend only gives them 2 extra weeks and the problem may take longer to iron out.

Don't worry there's over (don't know how many rides there is at EP) rides & attractions to enjoy

I wonder if they've had some kind of manufacturing issue in their factory? Helix was supposed to have it's trains by now and start testing on the 19th but delivery has been delayed until then.

Hmm maybe. Do we have any idea if the trains for the coaster have been delivered yet? I don't think there have been any photos of the trains in full, just various bits of them in the factory.

:)

So I suppose it depends what they define Spring 2014 as. I see Spring until the end of May. You'd think they'd want it open by Easter weekend so fingers crossed.

:)

This is surprising news, with Europa's track record, it was always going to be more disappointing.

Hopefully they will get in open in time for the Junket, otherwise its an excellent reason to visit the park again :) When I visited EP last year, Wodan still felt like it was new.
