2016: Ireland

I'd add Scotland as well; granted, people usually brand them under the UK, but they're certainly distinctive.

I'd love to see an EP take on Wales, but truthfully my country isn't exactly memorable.

If that was the case for a Scottish section, we'd either need a Loch Ness Monster dark ride or an Old Firm duelling coaster! :p

RCDB lists a new Mack kiddie coaster as part of the line up in 2016.

To give some perspective on the size, it's about half as long as Octonauts.

A basic entry level coaster is much needed at EP, Pegasus is a little too large for the park's youngest visitors. Looks like it is going to be very short but as long as it pleases the kids!

:)

EP Fans have some photos of how work on the Ireland site is progressing:

It looks like the slides are being taken down carefully and stored over near the Horror Nights tents, maybe these are going to be re-used?

And work on the monorail expansion:

Got to admit, there is a hell of a lot to do before the start of next season if this new area is going to have any real substance.

:)

I had heard the EP Express was being re-routed, but does anyone know why?

Ireland station? I'm not sure where the nearest one is to Ireland though, so if it was England then there'd be no point. No idea other than that.

Wouldn't have thought so. This work is at the park entrance, and the EP Express track already goes right past the Ireland area (as seen in the pictures above).

The Ireland area is scheduled to open in June, I think - not the start of the season. So there's no panic!

Ah, that's good to hear! No worries now then, March would really be pushing it but they shouldn't have any problems aiming for June.

:)

If it's June when it's opening then it is rather fitting with both Irish football teams heading over to the Euro's next year and this just opening up at the same time. Mmm...

Europa Park Fans have posted some new concept art for this on Facebook today, showing part of the building along with the train for the new coaster.

Certainly looks interesting, the building looks very 'Crazy Taxi'. I can't help but feel that 'Rockin' Tug' ride is going to end up with some completely crazy/fantastic effects much like last seasons Columbus refurb.

Meanwhile, over on the forum's of EPfans.ch there is some odd speculation going off that the new coaster is infact the old E-Motion coaster that operated at the Amsterdam Dungeon between 2005-2014. Interestingly the RCDB listing for the coaster does have the exact same length stats as the new coaster for EP (262.5ft). According to their forum it is a rumour that spread among staff this weekend that the tracks of that coaster are supposedly in storage at Europa. Obviously this is more than likely just a wild rumour, but we shall see.

I'd be very surprised if it was the old Amsterdam track. I wouldn't have said that was a good design for younglings. With all the stopping and starting it was also a very dull ride. Not to mention that it used single 3 row cars rather than a train, and had an elevator lift, so could not easily be adapted...

Hey guys ! As some of you are as much into beer as I am...I`m totally missing a discussion about the new Irish pub they`re gonna add to the area ! I`m REALLY looking forward to that one :)

I remember seeing a photo of a bottle of Guinness in the Sports Bar that got posted to EuropaStreet's Facebook page over New Year, so I'd say it's pretty likely they'll be serving it in the Irish pub when it opens.

I can confirm that they are working on getting Guinness into the new Irish pub! Just working on a few contractual issues with current suppliers apparently. The pub will be a German take on an Irish pub, and will be on the upper floor of the building (the ground floor will be a cafe as it is a kids area).

:)

Lots of new stuff for 2016...!

  • New Irish area with 3 rides and a food and beverage location, as mentioned a pub on the 1st floor. The area will be themed to an Irish fishing village.
  • New Luxembourg Square outside Historama with a 'major new theming object'
  • New 4D movie 'Happy Family' will run alongside 'Time Carousel'
  • New film for the Grimm library (custom for the park)
  • New 'Spices' restaurant with world cuisine
  • New 'Poffertjes' outlet in Holland selling the classic mini Dutch pancakes
  • New 'Friethuys' outlet in Holland selling Dutch style fries
  • New exhibition in the Mercedes Benz Hall
  • New VR film added to Pegasus
Some of the new additions will open in March whilst some will open in May.
