Last Saturday, EuropaStreet were given the opportunity to have a tour of the Eurosat construction site. This included taking a trip inside of the ride building which was quite surreal!
All of the track on "ground" level (i.e. station level) has been removed along with the station and all theming. They have also removed all track back to the final break section (the one where you pray it doesn't trim). No more track will be taken down now until new track has been installed; new track is due to arrive very soon.
It is an extremely complex project that really makes no financial sense whatsoever, but this is EP and this is Eurosat! They need to get it right as if track pieces are out by just 10cm at the bottom, they could be out by 1m at the top (or something along those lines anyway). Because of this complexity they really have no idea when it might re-open and there is no pressure to rush.
The new VR station is actually going to be outside of the existing Sat dome. An extension will be built on the Silver Star side of the dome and this will house a generically themed Coastiality VR station.
The lift mechanism and track is remaining, as are the vast majority of the existing supports.
We got to walk up the lift which was really quite cool and walk around a new first level that they have created for construction purposes. Being inside the dome makes you realise just how tight everything is, space is very limited.

I must say a huge thank you to Europa-Park for this unique experience!
