Yeah, I was a bit disappointed actually; i'm one of those crazy people who would love to be evac'd from a coaster!

Think we're deviating a bit from 2018 Discussion right now onto general RAP and breakdowns discussion. Back on topic please :)

Given how ott they were last year, this is surprising... Like, if this is happening then the park need to look into it because it is unfair on those who need it...

In regards to legality, the parks are required to have things to place to assist those with disabilities, as per the Disability Act... The likes of Tesco or Asda have the mobility scooters and I'm sure a few other things (dedicated check outs at lower height for example)...

Removal of the RAP system could easily result in some questionable legal position for the park and Merlin... The system choice is courtesy, but the park need to show considerations towards all forms of disability, which of course includes provisions for those who cannot be in 30+ minute queues for whatever reasoning...

Yes absolutely fine to discuss anything related to this season. It's more posts concerning the need for RAPs and general posts about being stuck on coasters in the past that were going off topic :)

    Back on topic......

Have operations been much better this weekend?

More staff working the reason do you think or are they learning from mistakes?

As a parent and carer of someone that uses the RAP system, this worries me. A lot people that are genuine users (myself and daughter included) spend time and NHS time getting the documentation. And then an experiment shows the system is not being stuck to by the company that made it.

I was hoping that for the 2018 season they would have improved staff training so that didn't happen, it's rare but it should be non existent.

Did your group get a letter saying it's for the day only and to bring proof next time?

Usually they won't issue raps if documentation is not presented.

A guy got banned a few years ago for abusing the system- the park only found out when he bragged about it on social media.

That makes more sense at least in the short term, if they are struggling to have wickerman open for ert they should replace it with a ride they know ert works for

They need to open Thirteen and Rita at 10.30 as thrill ride fillers for the morning. There is no way that I want to ride Oblivion and Spinball for an hour and a half followed by an hour riding the Smiler. An I certainly won't want to queue for 2 hours for the Wicker Man when it first opens at 10 either.

True, they just need to open everything for 10am, its never going to happen now as they have not employed enough ops and techies for this to happen :(
    its nice to dream tho

That doesn't make sense to me as they all open at some point so the staff must be there just not maybe right away.

What they have done is cut their hours most likely.

Again I hate harking back to Smiler incident but when you lose 600,000 through the gates over a year, you feel the pinch.

Understandable but they are now cutting staff in places they shouldn't just to make more profit, not less loss.

It would be like Tesco opening their store at 9.30 but saying hey only 1 self service checkout will be open until Noon, then the rest of the checkouts will open - Tesco might be a money grabbing corporate monster, but not even they'd stoop that low.
