Because that would be illegal. Feel free to research protected characteristics under the Equalities Act.

What wouldn't be illegal of course would be removing and banning anyone not following park rules (or indeed, the law), regardless of their background or ethnicity. But they don't, they do this, and let it adversely effect everyone else's day.

Another issue they've failed to take control of over the years.

Fortunately I've never visited Towers on one of these days. Do they not bring in extra security and police? Would make it a lot easier to boot them out if there's any trouble instead of letting them ruin everyone else's day.

I have been on park a few times and there is usually a pretty large security presence. Last October when I was there on one of these days there were about a dozen police officers on park as well as additional security.

Sorry if I've sparked a debate! I was just unfamiliar with the name
I wouldn't worry about it, it's not your fault. You asked a genuine question as it seems odd to people who haven't been hanging around these parts for a while as to what is meant by a day marketed as "Family Friendly Day". As @rob666 says, this debate would have happened anyway, they'll be another one in October.

Sorry to bring this up again as its been spoken about plenty already, but does anyone know what the problem with Nemesis airgates are? Does anyone know how long it'll likely take them to fix it too

I would imagine that since the airgates are old, they need some new part/resource to sort the problem out. There will be a lead time on this.

Currently, the airgates are set to open, so they will have had to override the programming systems to allow the trains to move inside the station with them open.

The sooner it is fixed the better... that extra 25% throughput makes such a difference to the old girl.

Traveller days usually fall on big horse racing days at Stoke racecourse - the adults go to the races, the younger ones go to Alton

The park was a misery today. Felt considerably busier than at any stage last year with crowds all over (probably not helped by the aforementioned "day"). Absolutely no enforcement on masks, and indeed I think there were probably a considerable majority of people not wearing masks anywhere - certainly not in the queues. Social distancing was completely non-existent, and I was in a number of queues where other guests were consistently within a foot of me at nearly all times. Feeble staff annoucements did nothing to help the matter, though I don't blame them given some of the contingent on park today. There were burly security all over, plus police, seemingly consistently removing people from the queues for various misdemeanors - most notably in the Oblivion queue where one fine chap was extricated by 7 security staff for setting upon someone else.

I have no idea what's going on with Thirteen, but it had a 2 hour queue for much of today which meant I went nowhere near it. RAP on Wicker Man is a disgrace, and though the ride is being operated very well, I witnessed a consistent equal number of RAP & FT being let through versus normal guests which must be degrading the guest experience enormously, not to mention going straight against the park's new "up the ride count per head" policy.

Positives today were the weather, which was perhaps the saving grace of the day, plus the fact that the park emptied quite a bit after 7pm - which meant Nemesis with sub-5 minute waits (though Thirteen was still on 90 minutes after 7!) Overall though, I absolutely won't be going back until after the indoor attractions have reopened and certainly not again on a Sunday around Easter!

can’t agree more regarding social distancing! Was terrible today, also saw so many members of staff being given a hard time by certain members of the public... a tough day both for guests/families and employees, but like you mentioned we managed to lap nemesis at the end of the day too, which was a nice way to end .

Yes they do. Yesterday I was at the park and I think they caught Towers off guard because the day started normally and very little security and no police presence. I think alcohol was initially served until just before lunch. I heard the police turned up later in the afternoon though.

Sky Ride was stopped once because some of the kids jumped the fence inside Towers Street station into the ride area so they stopped it until security removed them.

I spotted others jumping the queue pen fences at Wickerman entrance and at the end of the night some of the really younger ones got up on the lawns stage and started running around. Turned out, when they were chased off, their parents were stood around in Towers Street chatting (and probably watching thinking how proud they are of their little sh*ts causing havoc).

Problem with booting them out of the park is that they are just moving the problem to the monorail and potentially the car park. Because the park is so isolated, its not like they can just jump on the bus and head home. So until the whole groups of families leave, they're stuck. Maybe they really do need an Alton Towers dungeon...

They remove people who break the rules on this date and any other date. The issue is the volume of antisocial behaviour on family days. It’s just impossible for them to keep up. Also banning people in a theme park is almost impossible, how would anyone on the entrance know such a person is banned when they return?

Unfortunately Towers are stuck between a rock and a hard place on this particular issue as they can’t ban someone for being part of the traveler community so can only act on antisocial behaviour as it happens.

They take action very very rarely. It would be a big effort and cost especially for the first season, but would pay huge dividends once those misbehaving knew the game was up.

Electronic payment methods, vehicle number plates, photos. Loads of ways to implement banning across the estate, certainly not with any great reliability but with enough to send the right message. Again, effort, again, worth it!
