2023: The Curse at Alton Manor

It's not multicolour it's the camera they used haha. I know which POV you're talking about it's just purple and green lol
But… even with all that green was never really in the rides colour pallet

His eyes are green, and they're green in all prop versions of him they had prior to when they added the projection, also the fireplace in the preshow has purple and

Fair point. Where’d you find that concept image of the grand hall though?

Sad Terryitis.
It has all rumbled on from that rotten fungussed london plane tree that got hard pruned in the closed season...
I told them the branches needed chaining, but they didn't listen to the bloody gardener, did they.

Must be something to do with the new computer system. No other reason to close it during half term.

I’ve only managed to get on it once in a fair few trips this season as it’s constantly been closed. Some of the effects didn’t work and some were out of time. Not a good second season for it. Think I’ll skip it anyway when it does come back I haven’t really missed it.

It's been having problems all week. Operated for only about 30 mins on Sunday and closed early. We managed to get on it on Monday morning but it was in a bit of a state, the Trommel just wasn't working and lots of effects were mistimed including the giant Emily. Bit disappointing as I was taking a couple of family members on for the first time and would have liked them to see it at its best, but at least we got to do it. It went down again that afternoon and I'm not sure it's operated since.

Ride availability this week has been a total embarrassment, frankly.

Ran almost all day Wednesday with no issues

Seems to be a new flashing light effect behind the ride vehicle as you travel through the trommel. It casts a shadow onto the clock which projects the silhouette of the riders.

Was down a lot again but managed to get on it. Lots of effects broken, half of the ride for me was in darkness. Feel like the flying heads scene they have improved the lighting on the faces and maybe used some new UV effects?

I don’t recall anybody calling it the best dark ride ever.

It is the best in the UK when it works properly . It’s not even close .

Hopefully they can get it working more reliably . More pride seems to have been taken in maintaining investments since Wicker Man.

Sorry, early morning, I did mean best uk dark ride ever, (said by lots of thoosies), which, if everything was working, it probably would be.
But because of other issues, ie access, I have only had the single ride since it opened.
But it was a much better time than shooting zombies.

Curse is an excellent ride and currently one of the few things that helps differentiate Alton Towers to the grown adult from just coasters.

I think it’s not a case that it was last year’s shiny new toy and now it’s just left to break, I think they’re still trying to improve it both in terms of reliability and added effects but I guess it’s very technically demanding.

I think it’s a great ride, I really enjoyed it actually found it better the second/third time of riding as it’s a bit overwhelming at first.

Hopefully they can get it sorted which I’m sure they will do, there’s a bit of a difference between letting the Smiler’s queue deteriorate to ruin and letting their brand new investment go that way within a year, I’m sure they’ll be working on it to get it sorted - was absolutely fine when I went in March.

There's enough little bits added every time I go on, to suggest it's definitely in the parks page to keep improving. I like that aspect. Keeps people interested to reride. Maybe a VR extension like Europa could be a good addition a few years down the line
