2024: General Discussion

What’s the connection to Horizon? Isn’t this more likely to be Ripsaw related?
Given that the posts features #fireworks, emoji of an explosive and fireworks, and video footage of cargo with the word "explosives" on it, I'm going to presume that this is actually related, shockingly, to fireworks. Expect Phalanx to feature prominently in the display.

Got a feeling it'll have something to do with Ocean though, just like the Nemesis announcement at the 2022 Fireworks.

I don't doubt that it's likely Ocean will be teased. For all the Swoosies out there, the final date of fireworks features on one of the explosive barrels. You can now go nuts with your theories, but these posts should possibly be moved to a more relevant thread.

The post was moved, it was in the Horizon thread originally.

Heres hoping that the date teased doesnt mean that the saturday firework display wont include the same reveal!

All 3 dates are mentioned on 3 different barrels by the looks of things.

At least it looks like we’re getting an actual story this year rather than a quick trip around the top 10 U.K. charts which has been commonplace over the past couple of years!

Noticed that tickets are still available for all three days of the fireworks...I'm sure in previous seasons at least the Saturday would have sold out by this point in the season...

Signs of lower demand?

with all the availability issues that plague the park at the tail end of the season (It seems today has been particularly abysmal), I wonder what can practically be done

Would it be worth having a week fully closed (Monday - Friday) in the period between Oktoberfest and Scarefest to do some more intense maintenance ahead of Scarefest?

The last time I remember it selling out before the event was 2 or 3 years ago, and I think the Saturday sold out within a week or so of the fireworks, so there's still time...

Last year didn't sell out at all if I remember - certainly not in the last few days in the run up anyway (may have sold out on the day - I was in the park on the Sat and Sun so never checked!)

There's still 2 weeks to go, get Halloween out of the way and I suspect more tickets will sell.

2021 technically didn't sell out on the Saturday. As far as I recall, they just took whatever they hadn't sold by the Thursday off sale.

Still don’t understand why they are doing them next week. Capitalising on everyone literally everywhere else having their firework displays this weekend so they get a bigger potential audience?

Alternative novelty suggestion someone wasn’t paying attention and the fireworks company were already booked up for this weekend

I think it's because of where the dates are falling in the week this year.

The last 2 or 3 years, 5th November was on or near a weekend giving them plenty of time between the end of Scarefest and that date; 31st October then being near enough on a weekend too.

This year, because Halloween is on a Thursday, the next weekend after it (ie this one coming) is too soon so they are continuing Scarefest until Sunday (and also that's the last weekend of half term for many), so the only other weekend is the following one. In a couple of years' time when Halloween is back on a weekend or a Monday or Tuesday, then the fireworks would be back around the 5th again.

I think 2021 fireworks did sell out. I was there and there were AA traffic signs all around the local area stating that the event had sold out and to not travel to the park. There were definitely signs all over the A50 stating that it was a sell out event.

Both of these things can be true. If they took the remaining tickets off sale then technically they are sold out of available tickets.

Plus putting up a sign saying "event sold out" is easier to read when driving than "event not sold out but remaining tickets are no longer on sale"!

And to be honest, if one day is close to capacity they may well put those signs out anyway to try and avoid or reduce the amount of traffic heading to the park.

You'd want a week between Halloween and Fireworks at least, just to allow them to rip out all the stuff on the lawns and get all the fencing etc in that they need, plus allows setup time.
