2024: General Discussion

True Rob.

It’s definitely more to do with the day Halloween itself falls on providing them an opportunity to extend Scarefest into the following weekend. One assumes they concluded they could gain more revenue that way and still attract enough people for fireworks the next weekend.

If you look at the historical placing of fireworks it’s nearly always one week after half term. Half term is late this year.

Not everything has to be a financial conspiracy.

Where did I mention anything about a conspiracy? It’s just a commercial decision they’ve made, as you’d expect from a commercial business. That’s not a conspiracy, it’s just how businesses operate.

If it was financially better for them to run the fireworks a week earlier, then they would, regardless of whether it’s been held at a different time in previous years.

I wasn't sure where to post this. During my visit last week, I discovered that if you're a Blue Light cardholder, you get 10% off food, drinks, and retail across the resort. We didn't find out about this until our second day at the park when chatting to the staff member in the ATH shop. If you don't have your physical card, then the digital card on the app is accepted.

I usually ask shops and restaurants if they offer a BLC discount. I never would have thought to ask at Alton. It's not advertised on the Blue Light website or app, which I find odd. It's supposedly a Merlin-wide offer, so if you have a BLC, you may as well test it at Merlin attractions if you do not have the Merlin Annual Pass since it's better than paying full price for everything.

PREDICTION: It's 2026, and following the full retheme of Forbidden Valley, Alton Towers have rebranded themselves to the Phalanx Resort by painting everything dull colours, dressing everyone in drab uniforms and advertising the army everywhere.

They don't look bad. I think that they could be popular, considering that the price isn't exorbitant.

Could be a new one on the way from HUSS along with the topspin I suppose?

Wishful thinking I suspect.
They could repeat what they did a few years ago with Chessington and get in a new ship from a manufacturer that's not necessarily Huss.

Blue Barnacle is from Metallbau Emmeln and I wouldn't put it past Towers that they'd use them for a replacement ship if not Huss. 🤔
