2024: General Discussion

Well with that the best season yet comes to an end. World class operations with barely any breakdowns or delays, amazing theming improvements like the screens in Ritas queue and the return of a classic ride being reborn in Hex. Kudos Towers good job next year resolution could be to maybe have the rides open during busiest week of the year that’d be nice!😀

That would be really sad, considering that it is the oldest ride at the park, and also happens to pre-date Towers becoming a theme park (as I believe it used to operate at Trentham Gardens).
I believe the Trentham Gardens link might be a myth - certainly whenever I've seen Huss refer to the ride they list it with a 1980 Manufacture date, which wouldn't really allow any time for it to have been at Trentham.

Also, if the theory is that it was one of the rides added to Trentham by John Broome and then moved to Alton, the timings are off. John Broome didn't buy Trentham until 1981, by which time the Pirate Ship was already operating at Alton Towers.

The end of the 2024 season. I visited once this year. I usually visit 7 or 8 times a year but have had no desire to this year. Didn’t buy an annual pass. Didn’t stay in the hotels.

Saddens me to say this but the place is a shambles at the moment and not worthy of my hard earned money.

To entice me there next year :

1. Sort out the food offerings and prices
2. Sort out ride availability
3. Stick to opening times when I book tickets and not change them later in the year
4. Sort out the hotels - food, entertainment, rooms, quality, etc and sensible prices
5. Tidy the place up to make it worthy of the ticket price - eg monorail
6. New mazes for Scarefest
7. Bring back front rider queue for nemesis!!!

I wasn't around these parts in 2015 but it seems that Blade was originally planned to be leaving the park towards the end of the 2015 season (which the park confirmed) and then obviously due to a certain even that year plans changed and the park kept it. But does anybody know what the idea was behind scrapping it back then, was it coming to the end of it's service life or was there a different reason for them wanting it gone such as to install something else in place of it?

Wasn't it planned for removal then for the (at the time) proposed new woodie, before the plans were overhauled & moved to the Flume site instead.

You forgot the unbuckle seatbelt TV screen on Oblivion. Maybe, Ethan, you should appreciate the investments the gods at Merlin have provided us with. You won't get any more next season.

Personally, for 2025, I'm looking forward to the pizza pasta buffet being about £41.63 a person with a mid-season price increase (or 10); I like the taste of plastic, so extra cheese for me in 2025. Rapids will run only in August. I'm also hoping for staggered openings to return, as I have personally missed that from FV. I'm also hoping Hex gets some moving heads and a disco ball and runs the playlist from X from Thorpe Park in the queue to help build this atmosphere. I also hope Nemesis gets reborn into a 1 train service so I can enjoy being in the extended queue for longer. I also hope the Smiler gets grittier with fewer pixels on the screens and more dirt on the concrete walls (then it can look like Saw!). I also hope the Skyride gets delayed, as I will still be walking off my Christmas dinner in March.

See you all in 2025 folks!

The end of the 2034 season. I visited once this year...
Back to the Future again Gary?

My season, one visit, curtailed by a lack of reasonable access to the park, so half a day.
Lots of ride closures, no on park food, forewarned is forearmed.
Better luck next year, but I won't be holding my breath.
No real response to my recent enquiries about the possibility of the skyride opening from the start of next season, so it looks like a Blackpool pass next year instead.

Inevitably a very accurate premonition.
