Alton Towers Scarefest presented by AramarkTM
Because just like this event, our food will also make you s*** yourself.
Towers' corporate team are throwing the doors open to sponsorship enquiries, which alludes to the possibility of ride sponsorships again:

Given the "Activation across our marketing platforms for maximum reach" and "Permanent, in-Resort brand presence and touch points", I'm dreading any possibility of being thrown back into the festering Fanta sponsorship era once again.
I'd rather they increase the entry fee to add world class attractions. I'd happily pay £2-£3 per month extra on my MAP if it meant more high-quality investments in [new] rides.Add world class attractions to increase entry fee?

Would go straight into the back pocket. Without any doubts.I'd rather they increase the entry fee to add world class attractions. I'd happily pay £2-£3 per month extra on my MAP if it meant more high-quality investments in [new] rides.
Yes your right it would, just like how all vehicle tax doesn't necessarily go into the road infrastructure. But if an increase was ring-fenced or somehow proved by Merlin that the extra would be spent on ride investment then I'd be happy with an increase. We can dream...Would go straight into the back pocket. Without any doubts.
I only suggested £2-£3 as an arbitrary figure. An increase online/gate prices too would help also. I'm very surprised - what with the recent large rise in inflation in the last couple of years - that Merlin didn't jump on that and increase the admission prices more than they have done. How many MAP holders are there? I can't imagine an extra £2 pp spread across all those attractions is going to mean anything in the context of building big new attractions.
Shame Merlin don't release any information (that i'm aware of), would be fascinating to know the number of MAPs, the amount of daily visitors compared to general admission and so on.
And always worth the somewhat polarising reminder that a Paultons annual pass costs almost as much as a MAP (arguably more as most people buy MAP in the sales) for access to one attraction versus around 30.... which in my opinion contributes massively to a better user experience. That income is going back solely into the park you're paying for (once Peppa has siphoned off her royalties presumably).

I think they did start increasing them, we did have a lot more days with prices over £40, but with poor sales they've cut back and some £29 have come back over the summer with all other days £39. I think they aren't sure if its people not visiting in general or the price is too high? Currently Scarefest is £44, will have to see if it remains that way.I only suggested £2-£3 as an arbitrary figure. An increase online/gate prices too would help also. I’m going to play devils advocate to my own point here; maybe they could do a paultons and just have one standard entry price and then they can have a bit more cash for a better park.
That being said, Merlin already make filthy amounts of money, so…
Good correction, i think you’re right. But don’t you think continuing in the same direction isn’t going to change anything. Just charge a standard flat entry ticket, increase the quality and de-complicate the whole thing.I thought they made a loss last year?
I think trying to incentivise people to visit on quieter off-peak days is a good thing to spread the crowds out. They had two prices through most of the 90s and early 2000s, one for off-peak (usually weekdays during school term time) and another for peak (school holidays and most weekends). Now there is just about five different prices. The bigger issue I think is that the annual passes are still a bit too cheap for what you get and all the prices are a bit low, especially with the discount vouchers.Good correction, i think you’re right. That is my thought. Merlin surely can't be short on cash I'm pretty sure their quite well off at the moment could be wrong though. You shouldn't pay to enter the place and still have ads shoved in your face, if they do pull it off like how they did imperial leather making it creative I think it could be a good decision for Towers. If they just let companies do like the Oblivion + Fanta thing of 2011 it will be horrendous. My say in it all is up the ticket prices by a few quid and even stuff in the park if needed, I absolutely despise advertisements hahaI'd rather they increase the entry fee to add world class attractions.
