[2025] Project Ocean: New Forbidden Valley Flat Ride

The Blade, the longest standing ride in the Forbidden Valley area (Nemesis Reborn being a few months old), has a height requirement of 1.0 metre.

Alton Towers works best when there are a mixture of rides for everyone in a family. You have to keep the shorter members occupied and include them.

I know that but we weren't talking about the Blade. We are talking about new potential flats.

And whenever I visit the park the Blade doesn't really get much of a queue tbh so my point stands.

No it doesn't. Your point was Forbidden Valley was aimed at riders 1.4 metres tall and above, which it demonstratably isn't currently or even historically. The Blade is the only operational flat ride in the area, so of course it counts. The most recent flat ride installed in Forbidden Valley, Funk 'n' Fly, had a height restriction of 1.2 metres.

Once again, every area of Alton Towers, at its peak, had rides which catered for a mixture of height requirements. This also happened to be when the park worked at its best.

Wowsers. So much wrong with this post I don't even know where to start.

Firstly....Nemesis, Galactica and Sub Terra are all aimed at that demographic. The Ripsaw replacement will be too. A battered and tired pirate ship doesn't make it a family friendly area really. That's a bit of a weak argument there and clutching massively.

Secondly those fair ground flats weren't permanent and stayed longer than was ever intended. If the pandemic hadn't happened we'd have never got them either.

Finally there are areas of the park that do cater better for families. I don't believe FV and X Sector should be in that group and if the park did they'd not be building a Ripsaw clone would they? They'd build something much tamer which sort of proves my point for me.

I would like to start by kindly reminding you that we've all agreed to discuss things in a friendly and decent manner. We aren't immediately dismissive in tone, we don't condescend and we don't make general flippant remarks.

We don't know exactly Project Ocean will be and we certainly don't know it's height restriction.

I think we've exhausted this particular point of the conversation, and of course you are entitled to your own opinion. You shouldn't, however, dismiss evidential points, or twist/deny reality to fit your intended narrative. It's not a productive way to engage in discourse.

I have provided examples about how this area has catered in the past, and how it caters now, which both counter your arguments. There's a similar story with X Sector too. You've dismissed both as "not counting", so I can't see how we can progress.

I'm not sure I've even skim read the conversation properly, but just wanted to add this point. As someone who's regularly visited in a group with kids and adults who want to ride Nemesis, the battered pirate ship really makes the difference in entertaining kids while the adults and 1.4's are queuing/riding.

Same with all areas really, works best when something for everyone.

100% this.
You might want FV to be “thrills for big kids” but in doing do you’ll be harming the park overall. It’s far too big to suggest leaving some behind in CBeebies

Then again I'd argue CBeebies needed Spinball and a family coaster opposite Spinball to be easily accessible from the area. Not necessarily in CBeebies but next to it to provide the balance.

Sadly I think you have skim read the conversation properly.
Forbidden Valley isn't aimed at riders at under 1.4m so why would they build rides for them there? I don't get your point here at all.

I do however agree they need more flats in other areas of the park and ones that allow smaller riders to experience too.

FV needs to remain a thrill seekers area though. It doesn't make sense as a family area.
TLDR: OP doesn't think Forbidden Valley is aimed at families. Have demonstrated how historically, and recently, it (along with other areas) has catered for families. Told examples didn't count, and doesn't matter if they did because Forbidden Valley shouldn't cater for families.🤷

“Submit to the spin”

Sounds like a tagline an RCT3 creator came up with in 2008 whilst role playing their new attraction in an atari forums thread.
I've worked out what the real theme is.

Season 5 Spinning GIF by Pee-wee Herman

That seems more than just a bit of a concrete bridge to hold the ride. Its a substantial size and its clear this had to be started this year for next season
