The framing of the headline suggests that the Pleasure Beach was once the subject of ridicule, but the article leans more towards it being the town itself.

Rightly, or wrongly - the park is probably less revered and more ridiculed now than it has been previously.

My personal favourite is the Milky Way Adventure Park being #10 in the list.

Weirdly, I suppose in some ways people have a better day when the pleasure beach is less busy, because they don't have to queue and fight there way through crowds, not that this article says anything like that.

Valhalla closed today. No apparent reason. Hot Summers day, lots of people on park. Very poor.

Apparently it didn't open yesterday either.

Essential maintenance according to the website.

They have only just started opening the park 7 days a week and Valhalla shut already !

Essential maintenance? Haven’t they had 3 years to sort it out? I got soaked on Lost River instead. Valhalla waterfalls on & boats going round now, but still saying closed all day

Nice to be back on Loki’s balcony in the sun. The chicken & chips here is excellent

From a reliable source: Valhalla turntable is knackered and it’s not a quick fix. Bizarrely the waterfall was on most of the afternoon with the ride shut. Some boats went round but not for long.

Haha ! Eyeing up a lunchtime finish and darting west tomorrow so they better get that hunk of junk sorted.

Surely this motor was fully refurbished in the 3 years it was closed lol

So much drama ... It opened as normal today.

A three year refurbishment was never going to fix the fundamental problems that ride has. It could have been closed for three decades and it was still going to be unreliable.

They should have taken a leaf out of EP’s book and had a convenient fire…

@Dave it is curious given how fire prone Pleasure Beach has been over the years that the ride that hasn't burnt down is the one that is full of fire (when I ride it, anyway).

And if it was to burn down, it could take the Nash with it and leave a nice big space for a new coaster that's actually good. A good coaster is something the park needs!

If it wasn't for Valhalla, the National might have been toast a long while ago.
