Blackpool Pleasure Beach: 2024 Discussion

The park really need to bring back the WOW weekends in Feb and March. I remember paying £10 tickets roughly 20 years ago and when I last went in 2010 it was still only £15. I know things have gone up in that time but £25 each and the place will be packed again.
Would there necessarily be the appetite from the general public to go to Pleasure Beach for £25 in February when it’s often still freezing cold? And also would the park be able to get all their winter maintenance done ready for a busy park at that time of year?

I can understand the council saying "you have to plant x trees" but it does seem a bit werid for them to say where those trees must be. I suppose it's to stop the park just shoving all of them in the corner out the way to tick the box and then they quickly stuggle for room and die.
I think it’s more a case of the park showing where they are going to put them before hand and therefore being able to prove where they have been planted. They also specify what types of trees they are going to plant in each area.
I hope they get it approved as it will make south shore look so much better than it does currently with faded closed units and it will provide them with another year round income source and a return an almost guaranteed return on investment( at least at some point) and also a further opportunity to get people to staying there into the park/shows/ restaurants. Just seems a very drawn out process from the council when personally any investment that encourages people to stay in blackpool and makes the place look better can only be a good thing for everyone.

The problem with the WOW weekends is the unpredictable nature of our winters. The weather could be a mild 8/9 degrees and passable for a day out. Alternatively it could be minus 2 or minus 3 and a complete non starter for most folk. It's a huge gamble because if you pay staff to be there and it's dead because of the cold weather they are losing money and would have been better staying shut.

Personally feel like it makes more sense to stay shut a little longer and get things right for the main season which they are already struggling at.

Well I just checked the opening dates for 2025 and they open from the 15th Feb with just the Nick area of the park open for £25 and it closes again on the 23rd Feb
Then the weekends start again on the 1st March with a limited ride offering for £32.

On the topic of WOW Weekends, they were actually pretty popular, but with the huge caveat of it depending on the weather.

If the weather was nice, or just not terrible, then these weekends could be some of the busiest days of the entire year. Remember 2019 in particular, WOW Weekends were rammed, with the exception of just one rainy Sunday when it was empty. This huge surge in business came as quite a surprise to people, considering how quiet Icon’s opening year of 2018 had been.

I appreciate that getting the rides ready earlier is a big job, and obviously it’s a bit of a gamble with the weather, but honestly with how busy these weekends would be if the weather was anything other than rainy, I’d say it’s worth them doing it. Rain every weekend in Feb and March would be very, very bad luck, even for Blackpool.

People said the same about the late night riding & when they tried it then uptake was poor.
I personally don't think it'd worth the risk business wise. As has been said earlier they struggled to get the park ready this year without reducing the amount of maintenance time further.
Plus financially the park is struggling so adding extra expenses at a risk it may or may not pay off isn't justifiable in my opinion
