Blackpool Pleasure Beach: 2024 Discussion

I feel like they are fixing it as it looks like only the cylinder has come out suggesting the structure is still in place,I would assume an easier method of destruction would have been taking the structure down with the cylinder.
If they are refurbishing the ride, would you expect it to be carried out in house or by the manufacturer?

So with Nash running Blue and Green trains almost all season with Red and Purple Cannibalised. Both Green and Blue are in the car park.
Will Red and Purple make a spectacular return or is nash done for the year?

Just curious has anyone ever seen Nash run on kne train?
No but when I worked there I did hear another operator cheekily using a radio to ask revolution to go to 2 trains and Bash to go to 3 lol.
They told us on.the flume to go to 1 boat.
Poor bloke probably got sacked for his joke

Nothing on the website about Nash being shut but dipper is closed for the dreaded "planned maintenance" so I wouldn't bet on that running again this year, although I suppose it may do.

I'm sure I rode the Red train a couple of weeks ago.

The purple train has also ran with the red one over last few weeks. The only train that I haven’t seen run is the blue one. Guessing there must be an issue with blue one which is why it hasn’t ran 4 trains at all this season. I don’t think the colour of parts on different trains means they are directly from another train, more likely just spares that are in wrong colours. I think they have been cautious with spending this year to make sure they have money for all winter work/ demolition/ future plan prep etc, but hopefully the blue one will be repaired over winter so it can be back on 4 trains for busy days next year.

The pieces of tube they have taken out from Ice Blast in the pictures a few pages back, was the internal pressure tube that carried the air pressure and piston to launch the vehicle up and down. It works both ways on these things, or can do, depending on the setting. In order to operate properly, the internals of this tube see rapid changes of air pressure in order to achieve the launch of the gondola.

If you were refurbishing the ride, the one thing you would replace is this, especially after 26 years of sea air, which can clearly be seen as taking it's toll on the metal. Given the fact that this is a pressure vessel, it needs to be in good condition and as free of rust as possible, something which this is not.

Given this, I am certain this is being refurbished, they would just cut the whole structure up if they were removing it I would imagine, they have not done that, they have carefully removed the one item that would need replacing while leaving the main tower intact - you would replace this tube, especially if it was planned to run it at full launch power again, which would require higher pressures in this tube. Given the photos of this tube, it is no surprise it did not run at full power for a number of years before it closed, a high possibility this tube could have ruptured. But in any case, after so many years, it would be responsible engineering practices to replace this tube, given it's condition, age and the critical role it plays in the rides safe operation, this tube also acts as a breaking mechanism for the gondola - you do not want it rupturing mid ride cycle because it has become so rusty and corroded.

Judging by the state of it in the photos a few pages back, I would not trust that tube to hold the pressure of a balloon, let alone the pressure these things need to operate properly.

Steel and sea air are not a good mix. PB keep Thier rides going for as long as they can, I worry about Revolution, the steel frame is showing signs of corrosion and despite what some think it's not going to last forever. I'm surprised they let Ice Blast get into such poor condition

Better articulated than I ever could, but agree entirely. Nothing in how they’re working suggest the ride is doing anything but staying.

I feel like people sometimes forget that Rev is as old as it is. Next season it will be four years away from being half a century old which is absolutely ancient for an inverting steel coaster. I don’t think that many of its Arrow launched looping model peers from the same era as it are still running, looking at RCDB page for that model many of them have been retired.
