Just thought I'd note that at least X-Sector won't be needing a flat next season now that Submission is counted as two separate rides - one arm can be run whilst the other isn't operational.

I love the idea of Nickelodeon Land lights.

The last time the park sponsored a section of the Illuminations, the park was open at least till 10pm. It'll be interesting to see if people attempt to visit the park whilst it's shut after seeing the display.

Found this quite interesting. Shows how much the park has changed in 15 years. Particularly the class of advert as well, if we compare it to their 2012 advert.

For some reason though, the 1997 advert makes me what to go more :-X

Also, quite interesting I thought is how they've called themselves Pleasure Beach Blackpool and Pleasure Beach Resort since 2005, yet for 2012 the logo has been adapted at the end of the 2012 advert and on quite a lot of their marketing materials to place Blackpool before Pleasure Beach again, reverting to their original name. Anybody know what this is all about?

I think most people call it Blackpool Pleasure beach, and not pleasure beach blackpool as that just sounds odd. I did notice the website on the advert is also blackpoolpleasurebeach.com. Maybe they are slowly going back to their old name,

If you look at all the recent blog posts on the PB site and recent posts on their Facebook page, you can see that they are just using Blackpool Pleasure Beach now. The recent advert which has been posted above only says BPB, no Pleasure Beach Blackpool or Pleasure Beach Resort

I think they have finally decided to stick with Blackpool Pleasure Beach.

Blackpool Pleasure Beach is the classic and is what it should be called. PBB never sounded right, especially not when you've been brought up with BPB.

PBB sounds like "Pleasure Beach" is a chain, and Blackpool is just one branch. I'm glad they are going back to the logical order.

If you look at the Pleasure Beach logo at the end of the video, "Blackpool" has been moved from the bottom to the the top of the logo.

Blimey Charlie the rides at Blackpool Pleasure Beach have got a lot higher and faster than the last time I was here.

Looking down from The Big One on the now apparently teeny Big Dipper was a bit of a shock. Life used to be so much smaller ...

Ok, the new rides are higher, but The Grand National remains unsurpassed for nostalgic bone-shaking fun. Still my fave ride ever.

Wild Mouse is closed ... thank heaven. I still hurt from 1986.

Big One - freaky. Grand National - fab. Big Dipper - reliably rickety. Steeplechase - ouch. Avalanche - worrying. Valhalla - wet.

Blackpool Pleasure Beach still brill. Feeling young at heart ... if old of body.

The themed construction walls have been covered up, could this possibly mean that maybe the IP has been dropped, or worst case scenario has Pleasure Beach pulled out on building the new attraction due to unexpected costs?

I was at the Pleasure Beach for the first time in five years towards the end of last week. Will hopefully get time to post some thoughts in the coming days, but the building pictured there seems to have come along since even then, and the tarp cover is seemingly just until an official announcement. However, Gromit was visible even so... What sort of ride is it going to be? The area is much smaller than I imagined given the previous length of the Gold Mine, not to mention, it must be a pain to construct with the River Caves and Ghost Train operating in such close quarters.

It's been said to be a dark ride using the same system as Gold Mine though whether they're using the same cars I don't know.

Really happy to see them reverting the name back to Blackpool Pleasure Beach, it is so much more fitting. Would I be right in thinking that the reason it was changed in the first place was prep for a rebranding of Pleasureland Southport before it met its untimely end?

Also, the 1993 advert reminds me so much of some of Europa-Park's advertising. It feels calm, shows all the family enjoying themselves and it conveys a sense of enjoyment far better than an advert backed by a heart-pounding beat seems to do.

I'm very excited about Wallace and Gromit. Not only is the brand very local to Blackpool (Nick Park grew up in nearby Preston) and it is a very "British" creation, it is also one of the first dark rides to be built in the UK from scratch for quite a long time. I'm not sure what the last one built here would be? Spooky 3D perhaps?

Yes, that's what I meant.

I'm not sure whether I'd count Sub-Terra as a dark ride or not, as it doesn't have a transit system, but I'm sure that's a controversial discussion to have elsewhere

On my last visit to the park, the Gold Mine car fascias were in the Big One drop graveyard, without the mechanical parts underneath. Putting 2+2 together, they're probably already in the workshop due for their makeover if it's the same system.

Sorry if this is a little naive, but is this actually a dark ride being built from scratch, or is it just a HUGE overhaul of the old ride system?

From the above posts, it doesn't look like anyone knows? :-/ Ride cars in storage/renovation with potential for reuse? Surely if they're saving the cars, they'll be saving the track?
