Blackpool Pleasure Beach: Icon - 2018 Mack Double Launch Coaster

Apparrently they closed Icon today to do filming?!
When I visited a few weeks ago there was a couple of guys filming most of the day with DSLR's. Mostly filming people's reaction on the first launch and in the station. There were no "we are filming" posters about though which you usually see as a disclaimer.

To clarify matters here, the ride closed due to "issues" early afternoon, just as a large group were being escorted through the speedypass gates.
It took a good half hour to get the ride going again, the (staff?) group were then allowed to ride...one with a video camera on the station...and then the ride reopened to the public, with only about an hour of closure in total.
Heat checks were being made on the wheels, but apparently that wasn't the problem.
Very nice getting a queuejumper kicked out of the queue...he said he was catching up with his mates, but he was on his own...and after three people complained, I was happy to identify him and he was cheered as he was escorted off via the "paid queuejumper" gate.

It's probably already covered in the regular entry T&C's, the signs "we are filming today" are usually just courtesy signs and not required by law.

Important topical heatwave information I forgot to post yesterday, for the vampires and shade lovers amongst us.
Icons queueline gets sufficient shade to hide brilliant white, fresh, pre burnt skin, by about 2pm...but only down the left hand side of the queueline, down the side of the station building.
Lots of burnt skin out there yesterday...and small bottles of water at one pound eighty, or thirty six shillings in proper money.
Or nearly eighteen months pocket money from my youth.
I think my beer was actually cheaper.

Icon is still amazing, but a shame many of the thematic elements are already not working/looking worse for wear.

- Station audio quieter
- Train lights off
- Mist very thin and only half working
- Gold peeling off the queue fences
- Station mirrors dusty

They do seem to have an awful lot of problems with that mist considering it’s got to be one of the simplest things to operate. Surely you just turn the tap on.

I personally prefer station audio to be on the quiter side. The audio on Wickerman’s queue was way too loud for me, if you’re stuck in that queue surely you want to be able to have a conversation and not have that annoying music piped into your ears.

Paint peels off metal, not sure what the park are expected to do? Touch it up every few days, perhaps closing the ride for 2 hours to do so? The Nash gates always look wrecked, but I don’t care as it doesn’t spoil my enjoyment of the ride. The trains and lap bars do that already!

I was there from 10 to 2 today and there was plenty mist on both tunnels ... enough to mist the exit pathway too! Station audio is fine and I think it helps the staff communicate with each other and with 'front row queuers' more effectively. Train lights were off but as it was bright sunlight i hardly think that's an issue  and dusty mirrors ....seriously?!?!

Ride ops were great with the queue out if the gate but only 20 mins from joining to riding and the ride staff were working their butts off to get trains loaded and despatched .. that's what you should be focussing on!

Operations are good today, yes.

The mist has two sections, one for each half of the tunnel - only one of these is working today, hence there is no mist on the exit into the first hill/drop down into the second launch.

Lights on the train would be ideal on a 9pm close, especially now it's dimmer outside. Also the effect they have lighting up the station is awesome even in daylight. I believe Helix has the train lights on all the time?
