Blackpool Pleasure Beach: Icon - 2018 Mack Double Launch Coaster

Complaining about dusty mirrors is the most pedantic thing I've seen an enthusiast moan about. Well done...
Personally I would probably moan about why the mirrors are there in the first place. What's the point of them? A reflection of the opposite wall and they must have cost thousands.

Do they give a view of anything specific from the ride operators seat up on high? I noticed last week when hovering around the front seat airgates that one seems to give a view of the queueline?

Possibly but I would have thought nothing more than they can see from looking directly down the queue line.

A camera and screen would have been cheaper than several massive mirrors.

Sorry, but I am not one for theming. It adds very little to a ride IMO.

Theming and decoration is always welcome IMO, whilst not essential for BPB. I think the effort they have put into the theme for Icon should be applauded, whilst the way they are maintaining it can be criticised.

Maybe the dusty mirrors don't matter too much though.

Operations are good today, yes.
Lights on the train would be ideal on a 9pm close, especially now it's dimmer outside. Also the effect they have lighting up the station is awesome even in daylight. I believe Helix has the train lights on all the time?
My dad wondered if the ride ops at the time where just being lazy?

Bloody frustrating though,:confused1:
Forgot sake PB You can do better than that!

Visited the park for the first time since 2007 yesterday and rode Icon for the first time, managed 4 rides in total. First ride was underwhelming, however as previously stated improved later.

Overall a great coaster especially for the UK and the best ride at the park by far, kind of reminded me a bit of cheetah hunt at Busch gardens in terms of speed/intensity. The park was busy but operations on Icon were good with 3 train op, queue line was constantly full and took about 25 mins each time we queued from the queue entrance.

Important topical heatwave information I forgot to post yesterday, for the vampires and shade lovers amongst us.
Icons queueline gets sufficient shade to hide brilliant white, fresh, pre burnt skin, by about 2pm...but only down the left hand side of the queueline, down the side of the station building.
Lots of burnt skin out there yesterday...and small bottles of water at one pound eighty, or thirty six shillings in proper money.
Or nearly eighteen months pocket money from my youth.

I think my beer was actually cheaper.

Ok I realise the park have to make a profit, but really, £1.80 for 500ml of bottled water? I got a same size bottle of it from the fridge in B&M today (no, not THAT B&M) for 25p. That is SEVEN bottles for the price of one at BPB. At least Dick Turpin wore a mask! Presuming that B&M must turn in a profit even on that 25p bottle, BPB are making an astonishing amount of profit on drinks.

It'll be 25p because it's out of date and imported from Turkey...

Would also imagine B&M get a decent discount on bulk buying for all stores across the country...

I can't be the only one that thinks £1.80 at an amusement parks isn't that bad, surely? It's £1 from the vending machine at the gym. Presume BPB kept it cold in their fridge and a member of staff sold it. And there's the free tap water option too which is why I never pay for bottled water. It's bad for the environment - plastic use, transportation, production pollution etc.

I'm now remembering my Ibiza clubbing days where the tap water is not desalinated and the big clubs charged between 6 and 10 euros for bottled water!! And that was a good few years back now.

I agree that 1.80 for a bottled water isn't bad at all. And yes, I think DC10 is around 12 euros these days! Saying that, demand for non-alcoholic refreshment in Ibiza nightclubs has traditionally been much stronger than at BPB... Experts are baffled. ;)
