Busch Gardens Williamsburg: General Discussion

Unsure if they are going to have a new Spanish themed area as part of this. There are rumours of an Australia themed area coming to Tampa in 2020 with RMC Gwazi so maybe both parks will be adding a new themed area?

It's good to see so much investment in the chain for next year, already seeing movement in Tampa, Williamsburg & San Diego, just Orlando & San Antonio to wait for now.

Isn't BGT themed to Africa? An Australian area would be a strange choice. Though there is Jungala I suppose.

Over the last 10 years or so they've been slowly moving away from keeping the entire park just based on Africa. You can see this in Jungala (Asia), Tigris opening next year (Tigers do not live in Africa) and Pantopia which opened in 2014, representing a fictional location rather than a real place in Africa like the previous Timbuktu area.

There are also animals native to Australia near the Gwazi site, Kangaroos etc..., which have been housed at the park for many years.

Massive, but fairly short. Here is a look at what BGWFans think the layout will be:

The drop down to the Rhine after the second launch will no doubt be the highlight. I'm still somewhat shocked that BGW might be getting an Intamin!

What exactly happened between BGW and Intamin?

Can't have been such a big scrap as the comapny as a whole has continued to use Intamin regularly over the last decade in Tampa, Orlando & San Antonio.

Intamin messed up Escape from Pompeii and Larry Giles of BGW has been known to say that the park would not use them again. Hence Moser for Mach Tower and Zierer for Verbolten. I wonder if SEAS management have made the decision on this coaster for them?

^I would imagine so, investment decisions seem to be much more centralised these days which does have its pros and cons.

Might also be worth noting that Apollo's turns 20 this year, so maybe it's being done as part of a wider anniversary celebration? Certainly nice to see the ride get some love, though; great job, BGW!

Sounds like a stunning ride:

Intamin multi launch coaster, RMC hyper hybrid coaster, B&M dive coaster, Premier(?) launch coaster and GCI (?) wooden coaster all in one year!

Cedar Fair & Six Flags, step up your game :p

It sounds really similar to the Parc Asterix coaster, more so than I expected. That's not a bad thing of course, this will be a fantastic addition to the park.

Still find it interesting how BGW will have three multi-launch coasters, with two of them featuring the same type of triple launch section! :p

When it comes to theme park leads it doesn't get much better than BGWFans! They do it time and time again.

The coaster looks great, a little short perhaps, but what is there should really pack a punch. I just hope that it does reach the potential height of around 315ft as that would lead to a phenomenal drop out of the top hat and down to the Rhine!

Aside from the coaster it does look to be bare minimums which is a shame. A basic station building, and uninspiring queue that looks far too short with some pathetic little shade covers, just 2 trains (which also suggests the ride duration won't be overly long) and a lack of any real theming.

Still, this will be a fantastic addition for the park.

Looking good! They are a bit of a gimmick but these triple forwards, backwards, forwards launches do help in making what is a relatively short coaster much longer.

EDIT:

Here is another re-creation that has been worked on for about a month and uses the exact footer locations of the actual coaster as per the footer plans leaked earlier this year.
