I would suggest trying a number of different masks and spending some time building up a tolerance to them at home. It won’t be comfortable and will take time but how many other difficult situations have you overcome to enjoy the things you like doing?

You don’t have any reason to shove your phone in anyone’s face, aggressive behaviour towards people trying to protect others is not justified.

I didn't mean quite literally shove it in their face, more the fact that the several types I've tried trip the non speaking mode in me and shop collections like that are tricky as my phone is my main aac.

I don't want to diminish the challenges that anyone is facing in regards to the mask requirement, but, as an outsider looking in to the UK, the level of hysteria regarding what is a simple requirement is unbelievable. People have been wearing masks sensibly and respectfully in mainland Europe since March or April and it hasn't descended into another culture war.

Although we don't seem to have got to the level of hysteria there is in the USA over the "mask debate".

A tricky time for you is a lesser issue than death for someone else.

Tell your dad to grow up and be less selfish. If he doesn't want to wear a mask there are adjustments he could make rather than taking it out on shop staff trying to keep themselves safe.

And suing people for not allowing people in to a business not wearing a mask? Hahahaha.

Agreed which is why I'm putting effort into trying to wear a mask as much as possible, but it's difficult.

The problem with masks in public is the different groups.

    The wearers

The hard to wear ( official exemption)

    The can't wear (official exemption)

And the group that screws it for the official exempt .
The i won't wear a flipping mask groups.

How can shops distinguish between the true exempt and the i don't care groups.

If people were not so selfish when it come to public health, we would not be having mask wearing problems now

In some cases the "I don't want to" group make it extremely clear.

and further to the I don't want to group, is the I will just wear it badly people. The ones who don't cover their nose, or pull it down to talk to others (therefore actually putting the person they are talking to at risk), or putting it on to get through the door and taking it off again, or pulling it down to their chin.
This is worse than not doing it at all I think.

Try working in retail and seeing countless customers not wearing them properly.

Just back from the local shop now and 3 people weren't wearing a mask*, a guy had a snood around his neck, 2 people entered with one spluttering everywhere and their covering of choice was to pull their jumpers over their face until they got the back of the aisle and dropped them  and the pièce de resistance résistance was King Wally who put his elbow across his face. All that in 15 minute snapshot. I really feel for our retail employees having to directly deal with stupid.

I'm from Leicester and the biggest issue we have is with sweat shop factories. Immgrant labour work for well below minimum wage and are put up in crowded poverty spec accomadation.

Perfect receipe for cheap clothes, and pandemics to spread.

Local authorities - and successive governments - have known about it for years and never really done anything.

With regards a second wave is the winter I'm really worried about. I might hibernate this winter and wake up in April once it's over.

Maybe add a few months/years to that, even in a best case scenario I can only see things remaining constant as it is now for months

    From the BBC:

Coronavirus: England highest level of excess deaths

England had the highest levels of excess deaths in Europe between the end of February and the middle of June, official analysis shows.

The Office for National Statistics says England saw the second highest peak rates of death in Europe, after Spain.

But England had the longest period where deaths were above average, and so overall had the highest levels.

Areas in Spain and Italy, like Milan and Madrid, were harder hit than cities in the UK

But the ONS analysis shows the epidemic in the UK was more widespread than in other countries, with Scotland seeing the third highest death rate in Europe.

By 23 May, the death rate in England was 7.5% higher than it has been in recent years.

Spain's increase, 6.7%, was the second highest in the countries studied followed by Scotland's rise of 5.1%.

The 'second wave' scaremongering from Matt Hancock today is disgusting and irresponsible. This so called secretary of health and social care showing complete disregard for the mental health of the public.

I'm lucky not to have any mental health issues but I can only imagine that talk like that will have an affect on people. It's not on.

I'm no fan of Matt Hancock or the government, but i'm all for people being worried of a potential second wave.

A the moment, some people seem to be assuming that we're over the worst of it, but it could all go pear shaped unless people take this possibility more seriously.
