I live at home with my parents, one brother lives on the south coast with his wife & their two daughters, and my other brother lives in north London. I see little chance of all of us meeting at Christmas if things stay like this, but I’m OK with that. May mean that Christmas will be very quiet this year, though I’ll take that after driving 200 miles on Christmas Day last year to get home from my brother’s house. I’m also working on Christmas Eve and Boxing Day this year, so can’t realistically go anywhere this year.
The down side is you are stuck with a minister that may not be able to give a summon to his flock.

Put me in the "You know you are old when..." topic.
Used to be ten thirty, eleven on fri/sat,
many closed sundays.
Lunch 12 till 3.
Evenings open at five or six.
All to strict local laws.
School uniform, tie in pocket.
Ten minutes drinking up time, so out at ten past.
That should be nine fifty last orders sir.

I’m nearly 36 and am starting to wonder if you are a departed spirit communing through the medium of Internet forum (Sorry you set that one up way too easily).

I'm about fifteen in my head mate.
Slow learner, late starter, bad attitude to the topic in hand.
Final year primary report.
Never been bettered.

The government wording that's relevant to leisure industry.
  • Businesses selling food or drink (including cafes, bars, pubs and restaurants), social clubs, casinos, bowling alleys, amusement arcades (and other indoor leisure centres or facilities), funfairs, theme parks, adventure parks and activities, and bingo halls, must be closed between 10pm and 5am. This will include takeaways but delivery services can continue after 10pm (from 24 September).
  • In licensed premises, food and drink must be ordered from, and served at, a table.
  • Customers must eat and drink at a table in any premises selling food and drink to consume indoors, on site (from 24 September).

Just a reminder, if we could leave this topic for general discussion about Coronavirus. Issues affecting the theme park industry directly should be discussed in the Alton General or similar boards. It just stops things being duplicated in two places :).

Is there a general non park specific topic?

I don't believe so, feel free to create one if you wish. But as Coronavirus related stuff has been discussed in the Alton board quite extensively, the existing topics are fine too.

Good news Asda is recruiting 1000 extra staff to enforce the wearing of face nappies.
Hopefully others will follow so I don’t end up with an assault charge before the year is out.

It says something if McDonald's can explain how they will operate better then the government can explain what the requirements are...
(In short drive thru and delivery are same as normal)

Unless I'm mistaken the actual legislation for tomorrow's changes isn't published yet. How businesses can comply, and the police and local authorities can enforce, is anyone's guess.

It’s all our fault though...

As I said in an earlier post changes to legislation must be published in proper time to be scrutinised, debated and given time to be properly enacted by those affected. We’re half a year into this now and we should be back to properly holding up any changes for proper scrutiny to avoid issues. It really is absolutely insane that our government is still carrying on like this.

I think this just exemplifies the kind of person Boris is - constantly winging it and deciding on things at the last minute, hoping they work. And if they don't, then it's never his fault, is it?

This is a pretty gross over simplification of what is happening ... and I'm certainly no fan of Boris Johnson.
