Just received an email from Dreamland Margate. They were due to open in April but will be delaying it now. Am I right in thinking they are the first UK park to do this?

^ Yes. Although they make almost all their money from festival-type events, so that may well factor in here.

No they are not. Very very few are, a tiny miniscule amount.

It is of course sad that anyone does, but life's a lottery. Be sensible, take precautions, but don't be panicking thinking you are hugely at risk of serious illness or death outside of the at risk categories, because you are not.

It's also a huge distinction to make that the numbers given are people who die with the virus, not of the virus. A very very different thing, which does not indicate whether they would have died imminently anyway.

A lot of doctors around the world would disagree and are openly writing to warn other countries about the high number of younger patients needing ICU. For example, Italy, age groups in ICU as of the 14th March:

5.6% aged 30-39
10.7% aged 40-49
17.4% aged 50-59

In France, half the patients in ICU are under the age of 60

Where possible, I used my foot at the bottom of the door, if not, the back of my hand, I don't touch my face with the back of my hands and I can wash them as soon as possible.

My main concern, what do I use to disinfect deliveries like parcels, letters, medication and food shop when it get dropped at my door.
 
At this point I'd be happy just to get a delivery at all! Been waiting on two Bricklink orders from the Netherlands for three weeks now. :'(

I posted somewhere a week or so ago about should I disinfect the prepacked food I brought from the supermarket
People laughed at me.
I talked myself out of going that far as it was ridiculous , madness
But now I’m not so sure
 
Well, this just hit a scary personal milestone for me today, and one that came far more suddenly than I was expecting; due to staff shortages, this could have been my last day in school for some time. Because of a lack of staffing, my school is now only open to year 11 and year 13 until at least 1st April.

I don't quite know how to feel. Everyone else was punching the air in excitement, but I almost feel more like normality is starting to gradually vanish. Still, it'll be nice not to have to get up as early tomorrow morning!

Detol, that's what I've been doing if it's not possible to throw away the outer packaging. People were laughing at me five weeks ago for spraying down deliveries. Now everybody is doing it.

But as my dad said, he could take all the precautions he can, self isolate, get me to do the shopping, I drop off at the door etc. and he get a letter delivered tomorrow by a postman in the incubation period and get it that way... At which point do you think enough is enough and stop worrying about that? If it's that viralant that you can get it from such a small sample, were all gonna get it regardless of how many precautions you may take.

Similar situation here. It's going to be a long few weeks.
 
So, it looks like Alton is going to open this weekend, which I find quite baffling in the circumstances.

Then again it's Merlin after all.... Money comes first.

Who is still going up for opening weekend?
 
I'm not going, but was never planning to go before May/June.

English Heritage have just emailed out, announcing closures until at least 1st May.

Following the latest government recommendations, we have taken the decision to close all our staffed historic sites from the end of Wednesday 18th March until 1st May. We will be reviewing this and will keep you updated. Some sites may be opened earlier and we will let you know if this is the case. We also need to cancel our public events during this period.

Free-to-enter sites will remain open to visitors. These sites have large open spaces in which visitors can maintain social distancing and they are often located in quieter spots away from crowds.

Our first priority is the health and wellbeing of all our Members, visitors, volunteers and staff, and we hope you can understand why we have taken this unprecedented step.

England’s past is full of stories of hope in the face of adversity, and of people coming together to overcome all kinds of challenges. Although we won’t be able to share those stories with you in person over the coming weeks, we’ll be continuing to bring them to you via the Members’ Magazine, our website – through which we’ll publish a brand new video series and a range of historical activities for you to try at home – and our social media channels, including Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and Instagram.

We really appreciate your continued support in these challenging times. I can think of somebody infamous in the TP community who will be.....
 
I'll probably still go for a gander and see what's going on at Towers. Not like I can sit at home betting on the football all day or do anything else as basically everything is cancelled. Also an English Heritage and National Trust member but as pointed out above it looks like English Heritage has already bit the dust for the foreseeable future. I probably won't be making a habit of visiting Towers too much but would be nice to get a quick visit in just for a day. Plenty more bike rides and walks in the open air over the next few months though which is fine. I can see Towers getting closed at some point anyway, possibly due to low footfall.
