Disneyland Paris: General Discussion

In terms of tickets i figured for the full day we'd get both parks but not sure how to play the second day?
I did 2 days earlier in september (quieter than it would be in summer) and it is possibly to do most things in one day, 2 days are preferable to prevent it from being ride>ride>ride>ride.

Studios park is meh with not much theming and a lot of construction the rides are good (didn't get on flight force but spiderman, crushes coaster, tower of terror and ratatoui was good) we probably only spent half a day there

but disney land paris main park is amazing, and you could easily spend a couple days in it it is overall all really well themed and, I think I prefer the western area to that area in florida as the western area just matches the kenetic energy and sounds of big thunder mountain and the river boat and is really cool to just stand there. space mountain is differnt to the versions in america, bit is really enjoyable (let down a bit by disney doing a cheap rethem of it to starwars) and buzz lightyear blast is also a really fun time, and I again prefer the france version over the florida version.

Anything in the UK you’d compare it to?
The main park I struggle to think of anything that reaches the level of theming, it is extreamly good. the studios park is 50/50 there are times when it is really good, but it there are also times when you are just walkling between concrete buildings and the theming clashes between the areas.

My mum who is in her 70s is planning on coming to DLP with us and i'm just trying to figure out if she will be able to go on many (or any) rides. She's very healthy for her age but also dislikes anything with non-flat motion.

She has been on The Gruffalo at Chessington and NinjaGo and SkyLion at Legoland and tolerated both of them but that would definitely be the limit. So based on that i'm thinking:

- Star Tours - Basically old fashioned SkyLion or is it rougher?
- Pirates of the Caribbean - Similar to Gruffalo as in boat ride with one gentle drop?
- Phantom Manor - Omnimover?
- Buzz Lightyear - Flat dark ride?
- Ratatouille - Flat dark ride?
- Spiderman - Similar to Ninja Go? Or is there more motion?

And then basically anything in Fantasyland should be fine i think.

Would suggest avoiding Star Tours.

There is also the Molly Brown boat in Frontierland and of course the various shows across both parks.

Star Tours is pretty tame. I can’t remember what the sky lion is like but obvious star tours is an old fashioned simulator with 3d glasses. Its fine for all ages.

Pirates in Paris has two drops it’s reasonably steep but again Disney design rides around all family. It’s a bigger drop than Gruffalo for sure.

Phantom manor would be fine as long as you have decent mobility to get on and off the system as it has a moving conveyor belt.

Buzz a slow moving shooter ride. No issues there

Ratatouille is a trackless dark ride, again, nothing intense in there I think they removed the 3D?

Spiderman is another 3D ride and it does move more than Ninjago I think off memory. It wears your arms out slinging the webs.

Small world, Casey Jr would be fine I would think as well?

Thanks. Bit rough is it?

Yeah just thinking of rides my son will enjoy and they can go on together more than things for her to do, that's the only reason she will be coming.

Sky Lion is a flying theatre. There's some physical motion but it's similar to a simulator except your legs are dangling.

Ah didn't know that about Pirates, maybe that's too much then.

Mobility is fine and web slinging is optional 😂

Had never seen Casey Jr! Might be a bit much but as its outside she can see and decide for herself.

It’s an old fashioned simulator ride it’s not rough as such but it has some quick movements which some may find unsettling or nauseating.

Skylion is like Soarin’ which I did in California which is a much easier smoother experience than star tours.

Casey Jr is a powered coaster, absolutely nothing too strenuous. You also have Autopia which is driving a petrol go kart that’s pretty suitable I would say and a Disney classic!

I thought it was quite rough, especially when the simulator lurches forward to jump to light speed
Yeah sorry, too used to riding Nemesis these days. I guess it can be a little unsettling. I’ve not done this one in a few years. The California one wasn’t too bad.

I went earlier this year with someone who gets motion sick really easily, and I though something very similar before going on, I only realised how bad it was when I was with them on the ride (I guess you don't notice it if you are not looking for it)

pirates I don't think would be bad (although it never had a queue longer than 20 mins, so may be an idea to try it before)

the best ride I think we all can agree has been missed: It's a small world

there is also the steam train

slinky dog may?? be ok, I think it was quite tame, but i am not sure on their tollerance, best way to describe it is a modern turtle chase at BPB

there is also a cars tram ride thing, i didn't do it but apparently it is alright

there is also an alice in wonderland maze

there is also a story book train thing, didn't do it but I think it is very gentle.

Your all forgetting Peter pans flight, Pinoccio and snow white …

These all fall under Fantasyland I believe?

I’m still traumatised from Small World as a child, will hopefully avoid that unless the Paris version is different 😂

Don't suppose anyone knows why i can book trains from London to Paris or Lille in March but not Disneyland (i know it's not direct anymore).

Our plan was to go outbound to Paris as the times are much better and then either get a tube or taxi to our accomodation, so i can book that now and it's very cheap.

Then to return we were going to spend half a day in the park and get a late afternoon train straight from the park to Lille then London. But Eurostar won't let me book that, i can only book the Lille leg of the journey. I don't really want to get separate tickets in case there is an issue with delays (unless it doesn't work like that with this service?). Is it just a case of the French domestic service only allow you to book a shorter advance period and tickets will become available nearer the time? That's fine if so, though does likely mean we'd lose out on the advance booking saving but not the end of the world.

Any advice appreciated!

The TGV tickets are released 90 days ahead, so for the portion of the journey that would be TGV as opposed to Eurostar (the Disney to Lille leg) isn’t available to book yet.

Haven't been for a few years but remember Star Tours can be a bit rough and certainly gave me motion sickness. Apart from that, what others have suggested are all pretty good. Regarding Pirates, there are a couple of drops but I vaguely remember them being more gentle than steep, certainly didn't get wet. There is also the boat ride up next to Casey Jr that takes you through a miniature storybook land which is also pretty gentle. There is a carousel and also Dumbo Flying Elephants (Elma from Chessington basically) as well.

Would like to go to DLP again as haven't been since 2009, everything is on a completely different level there (or certainly was back then, fairly sure standards haven't fallen, but who knows), but it is just so damn expensive - maybe pushing £3k for a 4 night stay.

We are only doing 2 nights but i'm surprised at how relatively "cheap" the trip has come in at. About £1200 for 4 people with park entry, accommodation (Airbnb) and travel.
