Drayton Manor Park

Also whats with UK theme parks obsession with world first! they are getting pure laughable now with what these parks are claiming now
Like it or not, Unique Selling Points (USP) work when advertising anything. So any that a park can use, no matter how insignificant someone might think that particular record/first is, they are going to. USPs are headline/attention grabbers. Especially given how difficult/expensive it is to get a USP for a coaster these days.

What on earth has happened to Drayton’s Marketing and social media of late?

This time last year, this was an area where Drayton was being heavily praised, now it all seems to have died off, and the teaser video for Gold Rush being pretty cheap looking.

Is this a case of certain team members leaving the park? Reaction in budget? It seems a shame that this is an area where things seemed to be shining but it’s now really died off.

Also work on the pirate adventure building has started with the Ivy being removed off the front and sides.

I do think this will be the next big project for the park.

If the five year plan was to be believed, which has been executed almost to the T so far. Then next year we would be seeing the relocation of an existing ride and a new round platform ride.

The park do need to do something with this though. Its a eyesore in the park now. I hope the plans have changed.

The social media team (led by Danielle Nichols) left and went to work at Alton Towers instead and the massive drop off in the quality of Drayton’s socials is very noticeable

I think they lost a few of Thier marketing team, that's the problem for smaller parks, the talent gets poached by the bigger ones.

It’s a real shame and if a small number of people can make all the difference, that’s very concerning.

The framework and tools should be there so that in the event of people leaving, it can be passed on to someone else and the quality not suffer. Appreciate at small parks with small teams this isn’t always possible though.

Speaking to a few staff Accelerator is not opening for the Christmas and Feb half term event so they can gut the queue line.
I would love for the building to be themed to a black smiths or Scientist lab.
Also I think the ride that’s been removed will be the Flying Dutchman which could easily go into the Vikings area and re-named with a sit down drop tower taking its place to finish off the western area nicely.

I seriously hope so. That cobbled together wooden repair on the failing exterior is horrendous. I don't want to criticise the park unnecessarily, as I think (social media aside) Looping have done wonders with the park so far. Finishing off Vikings with the relocated Dutchman is a great shout and would fit really well. A new flat in Frontier Falls would finish it off nicely and be a nice queue line soak for Gold Rush. But they've really got to do something with Pirates. Mainly so the thoosie community can stop banging on about bringing it back, or theorise on what sort of condition it's in (but lordy, what I've give to get access and have a good poke around), or how good it was (come on... let's be honest, the last few years of operation were shambolic and embarrassing). I'd like them to demolish the whole structure and open the park up - perfect way to close its history off once and for all and create a whole new vibe. Opening it up would allow for multiple ride installations, rather than just being limited to a singular dark ride (yes, I know there are issues with the building now being used in part for other things, and the Thomas Land use and extensions and yadda yadd yadda... we all know).

The problem now is the park got a lot bigger over the past 34 years and the building can be seen from every area of the park so it does stand out like a sore thumb.
Now if they relocate the carousel to advantage cove area and theme the train station then the pirate area can be extended out to include the Bounty and theme the amusement to suit. Then move the Jolly Buccaneer to the Carousel site and they could install an interactive play area for the kids with water features for the warm days.
Then theme the restaurant and outside to suit the theme again with a new dark ride in the pirate adventure building.
Think this could be the 2026 investment.,
2027/28 can see it been Jormungandr last year operating with the coaster been 40 years old
2028 Another Thomas land expansion to mark the areas 20th birthday with a new area at the farm end.
2030 The parks 80th birthday and 10 years since the looping group took over so a new coaster to go on the Jormungandr site and onto the lake.

Can’t see Buffalo going anytime soon. It’s well loved and offers another family / low height coaster option. It’s built into the Viking entrance way for starters. The train was refurbished at the same time as the re-brand and as it’s a low speed power coaster the track has minimal wear for its age

I am curious, why do all your predictions end in even numbers?
Well we know what’s coming for 2025 and there could be a little Thomas land ride as his 80 years old next year with the rumoured Haunting refurbishment and Accelerator re-theme.
I think 2027 could be investment in the zoo area as that’s had minimum spent on it.
The car parks really need the biggest investment as there unusable after heavy rain and with it now costing £9.50 on the day (£7 online)

I remember there being a mention of an additional replacement ride within Drayton Manor for 2024 in the long term plan and a new round platform ride for 2025 on the site of an existing ride which will be relocated elsewhere.

This was discussed on CoasterForce: https://coasterforce.com/forums/threads/drayton-manor-resort-five-year-plan-2022-2026.45928/

This 2024 ride was possibly a flat ride alongside Gold Rush although it sounds like it hasn't happened or got pushed back for some reason

This could mean we may get two flat rides for 2025?

I would possible expect any plans for a 2025 flat ride to have possibly been pushed back to 2026 with the new coaster opening so late in the season- they will be able to continue their marketing focus on the coaster which will be parks biggest ever investment in a new ride. Next year I would probably only expect the accelerator re theme and possibly the ride they planned to be relocated moved with a new flat coming in 2026. They could also make tweaks to the haunting story/theme for next year to better fit the new area

I wonder if Terence’s driving school was part of that plan.
Drayton maybe has spent the most money when you think:
Terence moved back to Thomas land
Before

Now

IMG_3549.jpeg
Then the new 4D movie and the re-theme of the building and queue line

IMG_3738.jpeg
Then you got the Western street, Sheriff showdown re-painted and drunken barrels re-theme with the toilets.
Then Shockwave re-theme with the whole indoor queue been re-painted with a new train and theming.
And then you got the new coaster with work starting on the pirate adventure building.
How much do u think roughly this has cost the looping group?
