My girlfriend, who was skeptical of dreamland, said that she had a wonderful time there, and wished to go again.
However, the apparent excitement stemmed from the fact that ‘every ride feels like it’s going to break’.
Take from that what you will.

Dreamland's applied for planning permission to build a 39 metre Zamperla shot and drop tower. It sounds like it will have a lot of lights and look good at night. As the tallest ride in the park it'll make an impact on the Margate skyline.

Edit: It looks like a press release has gone out listing the other rides that the park's adding:

Having a closer look at the planning application, it looks like Dreamland have come to a deal with Zamperla for their new rides :)

    The full list includes:
    • Twister Coaster
    • Sky Tower
    • Air Race 8.2
    • Endeavour
    • Midi Discovery
    • Magic Bikes
    • Samba Balloon
    • Vintage Caterpillar (Littleboy's Restorations)
I would especially love to see the Sky Tower go in, it really is great to see so much investment going into the park  Also good to see a variety of rides going in that will suit both families and thrill seekers, I'm looking forward to going back this year

While it's good to see they have the money for new rides, it's a crying shame to see that money wasted on such tat. I'm sure for all that cash they could have found an old Looping Star somewhere and brought back a Dreamland classic.

Would an old looping star bring in the punters as much as the things they have purchased? Not disagreeing with you but to be sustainable they need more than just us coaster nerds

While that is true to a point, and I see what you are saying... how many (non-geek) punters would have any idea that a Looping Star is a 30-something year old design? Provided it's properly restored and repainted, I reckon the vast majority of visitors would just see it as a "new coaster".

The park gets a big scale "new" coaster on the cheap. Meanwhile, the locals who are old enough to remember the 80's / 90's get to join us geeks in celebrating the return of an old favourite.

I thought the whole concept of Dreamland was to preserve and reintroduce heritage rides? Like, I don't know, a Wild Mouse?

Seems like they're just buying modern rides on the cheap now.

If I recall they really had issues with the old King Solomon Mines from Southport... Given the sudden destruction of the Mouse at Blackpool, it wasn't gonna be saved by anyone...

Given they've been struggling with money since opening, they need to do something beyond the original concept...

It's funny as some people clame it was carfully dismantaled and put in storege/ others say it was bulldozed.

I know David Littleboy was making enquiries about it so how knows?

Here's a rendering of what the park will look like once all the new rides are open.

Sorry but it'll never be Dreamland to me until they find a Looping Star.

I'm personally most excited for the climate dome that they will be installing around Margate.

    The treatment of the Wild Mouse is disgraceful from BPB, however I believe that Dreamland did originally purchase King Solomon's Mines from Southport - info detailed in this article below;

    http://www.joylandbooks.com/scenicrailway/images/gallery9.htm

I also believe the park would benefit from an old-school Ghost Train, and a recreated River Caves style ride would also be brilliant if a little more difficult to achieve.

References to the Dreamland of today vs. the Dreamland in the vision of Nick and the Save Dreamland Campaign are not the same thing, bar the refurbishment of the Scenic.

Looking good! I just hope it works for them this time round, am not sure how many more times they can afford to "relaunch" the park.

I enjoyed my visit in December last year.

EDIT: Someone mentioend on CoasterForce a while back that the King Solomon's Mines was beyond repair and had been thrown out :(

Is the park still aimed at an old-style amusement park/heritage type theme like it was when it first reopened, or are they just putting in random rides now?

I'm not knowledgeable enough on historic rides to say for sure, but (excluding the Scenic Railway, which is really well done) it felt like they took whatever rides they could get and are rolling with the "retro" theme.

Please correct me if I'm missing something :)
