Flat Rides: What would you like to see come to the park?

These flat rides looked very thrilling but we're also very cool to watch when queueing. Brings a lot of kinetic movement to the areas, which the park severely lacks personally.

I'd love to see 2 new flat rides in X-Sector out of all places, it needs them badly. A new enterprise would be a welcome return. I remember doing Zodiac at Thorpe Park and really enjoying it, giving a really odd sensation. In terms of theming, I'd like one to be themed to The Ministry of Joy while the other is themed to the organisation that owns Oblivion. A nice contrast between the Smilers twisted and insane theme and then the Oblivion organisations more cold hearted and cunning theme.

The smiler is pretty popular with younger people, so having a new enterprise themed to it would be a great way to get them into flat rides while the one on submissions place could be more intense. Just a thought.

TPWW made a video today about flat rides he'd like to see at Towers.

For X Sector he mentioned a Huss Breakdance 5 for Enterprise's spot and an Intamin Suspended Twin Hammer for Submission's spot. Interestingly he also talked about theming them to relate to The Smiler and Oblivion respectively. I think they would work really well in X Sector.

The video also mentions a suspended top spin for FV and a Huss Magic for Dark Forest. Here's the video if you want to watch it:

Interesting how Shawn says his internal sources say no decision has been made and the park is actively looking, yet the other Sean (LH&T) says 3 have been purchased already. Like with Duel before that closed, Shawn knows more than he's letting on in my opinion.

Thanks for mentioning it. I don't really follow him anymore, but I'll definitely give this video a go.

A while back, I did do some concept art on what could coexist next to Oblivion if Merlin decided to keep John's original vision of the area. I only did the plaza entrance, name and logo, but if anyone's interested, I'll drop some images below.

I see what he's getting at regarding the park opening all year round however are they really going to enclose a breakdance in X sector and just open that ride in that area during the winter? doubt it. If they open during winter I assume they'll keep the rides that can open in close proximity

The idea of the ride inside a building that looks suspiciously like haunted mansion does not scream Merlin at all, far too expensive but the ideas are decent enough.

Similar with the breakdance. That sight isn’t that big including the queue line. Not sure there is room for a building there and queue and ride. Again, decent fun rides.

Yeah, the BD5 looks like the illegitimate offspring of a Doombuggy and a 1st gen iPhone.
As if someone at Huss stumbled upon the TV Tropes page “Everything is an iPod in the Future”, and said, “Halt mein Bier”

“Op cabin in the middle” is a new feature to boast about? Have they never seen a Waltzer, Ark, / Speedway, or Gravitron?

And as for “thrill or family ride options”, we all know which one Merlin would run it on.

Funny how he mentions the Intamin Suspended Twin Hammer model to take Submission's place which I've mentioned already...Nice to see that someone else agrees with me on that idea.

His idea of the newer Huss Break Dance model with It's neon lights in that concept video does make me think that, with his contacts that seem to know more than he can let on, could be a hint of possibly a slight retheme for what X-Sector might end up becoming in the next few years from what I'm getting from him.

Stick a Polyp in somewhere. They are family friendly, easily themed, great fun and I am sure relatively cheap as far as flats go!

As far as I am aware it would be relatively unique in the country too.

it was an all round crowd pleaser. Not sure if it was really themed when it was in Festival Park, but it was certainly made to look in keeping with X Sector and Ug Land.

Blade and Marauders are nicely themed, but yes let’s see what the park pulls out the bag in 2024/25/26.

I’d argue Blade is poorly themed. The yellow seats stick out like a sore thumb and are in dire need of a refresh.

I know I'm going to sound weird for saying this, but if I was to suggest something to add to AT... From my experience going this season, I'd try to see if I could add another form of transportation around the main areas of AT.

Maybe something like a tram would work? Having the stations themed to whatever area they drop you off at. Although, at the same time, how they'd implement it would be... Interesting.

I think once the sky ride is open this will be a lot less of an issue. If they were to spend money on any transportation, I’d rather them pile it into the monorail.

And in reality I can’t see them budgeting for Nemesis, Horizon, Flat rides and then a transportation ride on top. Just seems a little out of their reach. I want to see them improve/maintain what they already have first, with some small additions in between.

Fair enough, although maybe they could expand the monorail to have a few extra stations dotted around the park? Maybe having three extra stations placed in places like Forbidden Valley, Dark Forest and X-Sector easier for guests with disabilities to travel around the park.

Of course, I'd suggest if they did this, they first upgrade/retrofit the pre-existing monorail lines before adding any more.

They can't build across the front of the Towers for sightline reasons I imagine. Monorails are massively expensive as well, plus the fact you're then allowing a way for guests to avoid paying by boarding in the car park and just getting off inside the park.

Getting the Skyride operational is key. A monorail expansion stopping at various areas just isn’t going to happen.

Back to flats, TPW’s suggestions are great, but I still think a Mondial Blender would be a fantastic addition to Dark Forest. I like the idea of semi enclosing a Breakdance 5 in X Sector themed to MOJ. Call it The Marmaliser.

True... I mean, don't get me wrong, Skyride is brilliant. But when it goes down due to any number of reasons, disabled people suffer. Although what I'd suggest for a form of compromise (maybe) would be a smaller line which is purely for the park. Maybe have a station in some of the major areas which the Skyride doesn't connect to.

Of course, as you mentioned, it'd be expensive to build and maintain. Although as I said prior, maybe a tram/train of some description could be a good alternative? As, a tram could have its tracks built into the paths of certain areas of the park. Of course, that would then pose the risk of people possibly getting hit by said tram/train. And H&S would not be the kindest to this kind of transport, I think...

Can anyone else think of any alternatives?

I watched TPW's vid as well, his suggests are interesting. Plus, his reasoning for using the same manufacturer to keep the costs down as well is a brilliant idea. Although, speaking from personal experience, I just hope the rides aren't all just spinning around horizontally like tea cup rides. I get motion sick on them. Although I'm fine with rides like the old Submission and Ripsaw, I'm fine with!

Polypip would be a great addition, especially if it was done like the one at Cavalino Matto and blasted out 90s/00s tunes. It'd have to be located near Spinball or something as not sure that something blasting out that sort of music would fit in to forbidden valley or the old submission site.

Whatever they get should be something with a proven track record. World's firsts are all well and good for marketing coasters but with secondary attractions you just want them to work. I'd be very happy with something like a Polyp, particularly as the park models seem to run better cycles than most park model Breakdances.
