Football Discussion

I'm not too sure what good week come off this. The Damage has already been done. We are talking about 8 league titles. Numbers of league and cup wins plus tye champions league. What will stripping them of those actually do. Certainly piss of those who lost finals finals and were knocked out by city and didn't lift the league.

The PL has created it's own mess. Always chased the money and let itself become a place where billionaire and national states could buy clubs and use it as a cash cow. To a point where it's lost control. City are in a position where they can just use it's fast resources on lawyers. Pep will always be hailed as a genius. But his success will always be down to the vast lawyers employed by city at huge costs.

Guess the closest similarity would be the Italian match fixing scandal all those years ago where only Juventus got demoted (then instantly promoted back).

Probably end up either not deducting any points (uproar), enough points to not be relegated (uproar) or relegated to the Championship or below if they ignore an appeals process.

It's a mess. And City know they have the cards in this as the PL don't want to lessen the "product", even if they don't want to appear weak in the face of a potential regulator (quite funny how UEFA suddenly don't seem to like that idea either).

The outcome here will ruin the league either way.

Demote them - yeh justice is done but at what cost - the last 10 years would have been a farce (bar Liverpool and Leicester)

Let them get away with it or be lenient, then the ethics have gone for good. What’s to then stop Newcastle spending what they want?

Thirty-four penalties in the shootout?! 🤯

My goodness

It's just mad when it happens was at a Liverpool league cup game (against Middlesbrough I think) which got to about 30 penalties, and of course the 2022 league cup final that went to 22 penalties (with the first 21 successfully scored).

Anyhow great performance from Liverpool today, was a big week after the shock defeat to Nottingham Forest but we've put in two very good performances after that.

What Im liking under slot is the control. Players have really bought into what he wants. Especially Gravenberch, who I think klopp had no idea what to do with.

Yeah hate to say it but Gravenberch is like a new signing this season. Great for him, especially when you think if Zubamendi didn't change his mind Ryan would be on the bench.

Think there were glimpses last season but he never got a good run, looked like it might change until he got injured in the league cup final.

Oh yay, more weeks of Arsenal fans going off on one about decisions going against them.

Trossard was an absolute idiot. I thought he was booked for the foul initially anyway. Surprised that it was for the kicking the ball away.

I'm sure after a certain goal was disallowed against spurs last season. A certain Arteta was heard to be saying "it's one of those things....."

Yes it is Lego head.

Arsenal’s park the bus, timewasting tactics in the second half were both to be admired and deplored in equal measure.

Delighted they didn’t get the win though.

Gonna be a long season for Palace until we get act together and actually play consistently well for both halves of a game. Didn't look like scoring at all in second half.

Everton possibly the worst home fans I've ever experienced. Less of a peep than their neighbours across the park even when winning. Which is fairly impressive.

Got a free training top out of it though.

To be fair to the blue noses Really hard to sing, when your constantly on edge and on the verge of a break down.

We're Albion fans and my dad was at the game (I wasn't actually that far away, I'd gone to Wentworth Woodhouse in Rotherham). He mentioned that someone had had a seizure or something and some of the fans were trying to get the ref's attention to potentially stop the game for a little while. He didn't know that the person had passed away in the end. Thoughts go out to the family.
