Football Discussion

I was one of the small percentage of fans who wanted MK to win today, as they're my second team which I adopted a few years ago due to my birthplace and family (everyone in my family who follows football has United as their first team, MK as their second). I missed the match because I was at a family party, although it sounded like a decent game, and I'll give credit to what I've heard of the AFC fans.

However, I'll be spending the weekend at Hillsborough with my SWFC supporting mate, hoping that franchise:mk get well and truly killed by Wednesday. :p

I dislike Wednesday so want MK to win.

I shall hunt you down in Sheffield and say hi :p

Sorry, but how can you bring yourself to support a team that stole a club from a local community the club had been a part of for over 100 years in the name of money? A club that still pretends to be a continuation of that club, despite having abandoned their heritage and right to use the nickname "Dons" 10 years ago?

To be fair, the club is bound to have fans. For a lot of people it is now their local team in Milton Keynes. Assuming SLC's age on his profile is correct he would have been 5 at the time this all happened so wouldn't really have known anything about it. I don't particularly like MK Dons and do not agree at all with what happened, but people can support who they like.

I always smile when I think of MK Dons anyway, when we played there in our League 1 season we were 2-1 down, they were time wasting like there was no tomorrow and we scored a 97th minute free kick! Lovely! ;D

Just wanted to say That I'm really pleased Palace beat scummy Brighton! It was a absolute fantastic game and one we needed to win, there's one thing to win but it's another to beat your arch rivals by 3 goals to nil! Now we're top of the league again!

Feeling glad all over! ;D

250k for Yannick Bolasie is looking to be one of the best deals of the season, and that's with Delaney on a free... Love it when players deemed not good enough for their clubs come along and absolute storm it, like a certain number 17...

Definitely agree with you there Benzin. Both Bolasie and Delaney have played incredibly well since joining, we make players great don't we? Not to mention they've been great value for money as well (as ya mentioned)

As for the Number 17, the fact that he's one of our best players this season and we sign him from Brighton makes me love him even more!

Not the first time this has happened, we signed Ambrose on a freebie from Charlton a few years ago and we all know what he did ;)

Did anyone here watch the ITV4 documentary "Mourinho" today? I usually hate ITV but credit where credit is due, I thought it was absolutely fantastic. Gave a great insight into a truly remarkable man. If you didn't see it then I highly recommend that you do; I think it is being shown again sometime on Thursday evening.

So Euro 2020 will be staged across the continent. I'm very disappointed by this, as it's only going to make things more expensive for the fans. Wembley's being considered for the final, though - probably the only positive in all of this.

What a stupid idea. :p

But then, Platini is an idiot anyway so this doesn't surprise me. ;)

Because you're all cringey, annoying morons with stupid flags, facepaint, band, awful songs, the national anthem, false sense of superiority who use England as a way to escape the failings of whatever no-mark club teams they support.

What a load of b0llocks (stupid word filters). But no you're right, not supporting out nation is a far far better idea. Let's hope the next official attendance for an England game at Wembley is 3000 or so, made up of away fans. That is a much better future for English football in every aspect.

But you've just picked a few points you don't like (and, in most case, neither do I) about a few England fans, that doesn't mean everyone who supports England goes around in Poundworld face paint, dressed up as a Knight with a drum kit round their neck while waving a plastic St Georges' flag singing about wanting an ethereal being that's not proven to exist (or not exist, in all fairness) to save an elitist women whose power & wealth is unfair in a democratic society does it? ;)

I'm an England fan, and am hoping/planning to go to Euro 2016 supporting them. But I'm not what you've described all England fans as, so stop tarring us all with the same brush won't you? :)

What makes you think I care about 'our' international football? I couldn't care less about the English national team. Why should I support England or any other national side? I have a club team to support.

National pride?

I know the England team are crap, but hopefully getting rid of the old crap like Terry, Lampard and Gerrard we might actually improve...

I don't get the hate either... Why have a go at people dressing up and having fun? Football seems so dull without an atmosphere, and you can see the lack of it off MOTD and the like... What's wrong with bringing some colour, song and passion to the game?

You call flags with club initials in the corner or with '*town name* *nickname of fans of a team not from said town*', wigs, jester hats, face paint and all that 'fun' and 'an atmosphere'? This isn't the NFL. This is football, and that behaviour is horribly tacky. That sort of stuff is killing football. Every song being to the tune of 'He scores when he wants', the weird obsession with 'false 9s', stats and all that, and the word 'banter'. It's the death of football.

I have a club to support. National teams are a distraction. How can you support two teams? It makes no sense.
