It is certainly embarrassing it's been out of action for nearly three weeks which is approaching a seventh of the season ( 14% of the season so far ) has anyone seen any work happening around it?? Or any official word whats happening. There is nothing on the website?

They are still waiting for the arrival of a part. I have no idea why it is taking so long, can only assume that said part has had to be manufactured from scratch.

Must be a major part that's needed then because B&M licence the making of smaller parts to Alton to make their own.

Rumours suggest the part isn't delivered until some point next week. No idea how long it will take to install and test.

And what if the part doesn't fit?
Really frustrating.
I'm going this weekend, and despite popular opinion I really like the ride with the VR - plus I was there on AIR's opening day in 2002 so it has nostalgic value.
I appreciate there may have been complications etc but for a major ride to be down for 3 weeks really is poor. Merlin surely have enough money and influence to push this through faster than that, even if there has been a complication somewhere.
At the end of the day they're selling a product, and it doesn't cost any less to visit with Galactica down than it would if it was running. Obviously it's accepted that things go wrong from time to time, and if you're unlucky enough to be there when a ride is down then sometimes it's just one of those things. But 3 weeks?
I'll still enjoy my trip, but they're skating on thin ice, if another one of the big rides goes down it's going to cause yet more complaints, I'd have been fuming if I was there when oblivion went last weekend.
Doesn't exactly help that filler rides like ripsaw, NST and the Flume aren't available, either due to removal or, in NST's case just being ignored.
The fact they're pushing the 'big six' thing on their app when it's not actually possible to do it rubs salt in the wound.
The park will always be special to me personally for nostalgic reasons but at times it's so frustrating, especially as when you ask for answers you get corporate spiel. It wouldn't take much for it to be at its prime again, but stuff like this is infuriating.

It depends on the part and who B&M have fabricate it for them and where they are in the world.Suggests some kind of error on one side or another, it doesn't take forever to fab something even remotely complex
As above the park aren't keeping it shut for fun and parts do take time sometimes it's not a simple as expecting a specialist part in a few days. When X had a lift hill issue in 2013, it went down for nearly 4 months, as that was the wait time from S&S to get the replacement specialist chain (I understand they now keep a spare in case happens again). If I remember El Toro at six flags great adventure had an issue a few years ago in the summer, but again due to wait times for the part, closed it for the rest of the season.
Parks that have Intamin accelerators, if they don't keep a spare cable onsite they often can go down for weeks while awaiting a new cable.

Hit it with a big hammer? And what if the part doesn't fit?![]()
