When I was at Towers in the summer I got talking to one of the ride hosts in the Galactica queue at the merge point for a while as the ride went down temporarily due to a loose article that was being retrieved. She mentioned that Bianca said Galactica was getting similar treatment to TCAAM/Nemesis over the closed season the theming being updated and the area being refreshed (I cannot remember for the life of me if she mentioned any changes to the ride hardwear as it was a while ago now). I know that things like this shouldn't be taken as 100% factual information, but the ride host definitly seemed to know what they were talking about - I remember her saying that Wickerman should be open by the end of the week, and I think it opened on the Sunday of that week - so they definitly were somewhat knowledgable about the behind the scenes info at the park.

Don't ruin my dreams, I'm still holding my hope on Drayton getting 3 new drop towers and a giga coaster which a maelstrom ride operator told me when he saw my smiler t-shirt and glasses straps and thought he'd wind up a thoosie.I work on the assumption that any time a ride host says anything about future developments, they are winding you up.

I think this map (and the comments by Bianca and co at the VIP events) defintely point towards the whole Valley being one cohesive theme eventualy, I don’t think Gal is getting a retheme this year. The valleys 2025 focus will be the new flat.
2026 I think will see Gal getting a retheme/rebrand. I don’t see it being a complete retheme. Maybe a paint job (perhaps dark blue track, black supports or vice versa). Phalanx space corps of some description I should imagine.

Funny you should suggest dark blue track, because Galactica was originally meant to be repainted during its retheme. But the budget for the repaint got reallocated towards the new Nemesis paint job in 2016. Virtual Towers Online actually made a concept video of what it was supposed to look like in the new colours!

I think a really deep blue would look good. Means not another black Merlin coaster but would blend into the valley better than its current state (assuming whatever retheme it gets is fairly minimal).

All it needs is a repaint, the trains refurbished and the station given a spruce up. The Galactica theme itself can be pretty solid. It would be nice to have more interactive elements placed around the ride, similar to the portal.

Yes. It would be pretty easy to make it a phalanx based galactic base without spending a fortune.

Was at the park the other week an I noticed that Galactica still has its non 3D sign after that storm I wonder if they aren't because they are planning a retheme.

Far more likely they wanted a replacement that was quick to replace but looked fairly decent and cost effective.

yeah, but sub terror opened with a 2D sign, then switched during the season to a 3D sign. I feel like if they invest in one for sub terror, they will invest in remaking one for one of their main rollercoasters

I believe Gal was originally meant to close back in September, but that was cancelled due to budget cuts and ride availability issues. No idea if it's still happening during closed season though. I guess we'll have to wait and see.

I am not sure, it would be pretty strange to close one of the main rides before scarefest, as we have seen it is one of the most popular times.
