General Queue Times Discussion

You’ll also know when Oblivion is on one shuttle, by the stupidly long queue time, compared to other rides across the park. If it’s a busy day and it’s on two and he park is packed it will have large queues. But if it’s fairly quiet but it’s got a 50 min queue then that’s why.

I never really get it when it only requires a couple more staff, it’s certainly very annoying when the park isn’t actually that quiet, when you add in disabled and fastrack, you can end up with only a few people from the main queue each time.

I'm assuming Oblivion is on 1 station atm then as its had really long queues past few days

That's the key thing with low capacity - it affects main queue disproportionately.

Normally (on 2 stations) there'll be up to 4 RAP users on the front of 1 shuttle and, say, one row of FT users at station B. When it's on 1 station you'll still have up to 4 RAP users on the front row of every shuttle and at least a few FT users on the back row, the entire row if it's even vaguely busy. The ride goes from loading at least 20 people from main queue per dispatch to just 4-8.

I thought only one RAP group was allowed on Oblivion at any time, if that still applies it will be a RAP group every 3 dispatches or so.

I don't know for sure as I have no need to know and I rarely ride it anyway, I just assumed they could have 1 RAP group every dispatch as any less wouldn't be enough these days. I do know that some of the old rules have gone from other rides though - Galactica now loads RAP guests on multiple rows, for example.

I'm going on 17th September (a Friday during Oktober fest). Any tips for beating the queues during this time with a party of 6? We will be arriving at the entrance by 9.

The Smiler>Thirteen>Rita>Galactica>Nemesis to start with definitely. Alternatively, you could skip The Smiler if you don't mind using single rider later in the day. If not, start with it.

This is a good order. Judging by recent queues I would definitely start with the smiler. I noticed this morning that the smiler was at 100 minutes by 10:10! Certainly seems to be pulling in the crowds this summer

Surely that's a reason not to go to the Smiler first?

So many different options. I think I am going to rely on the app heavily and just try to minimise the walking around and hopefully I will make the most of the day!

App is almost useless first thing as rides can go from 0 to 60 in a flash. It's useful later in the day once crowds have dispersed to judge where the crowds are and which rides are closed but it's way off an exact science, it's merely a guide. A useful guide nonetheless but not in the first half hour or so.

Whatever order you do it in, it's all down to what time they let you in, what times they open which rides and knowing the order of the park everyone else does. Most people will turn up to get in for 10, go to the closest rides first and the farthest ones last. They'll then do the same at park close. Happens every time, the only variables are when they let you in, what times rides open and the crowd levels.

It's about always staying 1 step ahead of the main crowds, hence the logic many of us are saying of doing the same order as the main crowds but earlier. This isn't always possible if they hold you all back until 10, in which case you can forget about doing Wickerman, Spinball or the Smiler first. If they let you in really early, then usually you can get away with it if all the stars align. If they let you in a bit early, maybe skip straight to X Sector.

You've stated your intention of getting every ride you want to do at least once (I don't know which ones these are however) and on a midweek September day this will almost always be easily achievable regardless.

Get there early, before 10, is what @Danscott22 was suggesting. If you get to the smiler after 10 it's not worth it no

Completely agree! Smiler, Thirteen, Rita etc. Is a good order but you have to be one of the first ppl let into the park, otherwise you'll just be joining a massive queue. If they let everyone in at 9.30 or before it's worth a try, otherwise I'd just go straight to Dark Forest.

Totally agree. A September weekday generally never seems to be an issue when it comes to crowd levels. However, with the data you're going on being an Oktoberfest day, I imagine it will be busier than normal. Still I don't think it's much to worry about as you'll easily get on everything when crowd levels are moderate

Wow it must be busy there today

Smiler and Thirteen both have 2 hour queues
Wickerman and Rita on 1.5 hours
Oblivion, spin ball, galactica just over an hour
Everything else just under an hour

Kids rides are looking not too bad though.
