Kolmården: General Discussion

Well, we always knew it would be good, but I have to say that view is something else!!

Incredible.

Loving all of these little construction videos, it really is clear to see the park know they are onto an absolute winner!

Sorry to double post, but the park have launched the official commercial for Wildfire today. As with everything we've seen so far, it is incredibly dramatic!

The park have also uploaded an updated version of the animated POV that includes some flyover shots of the animation, showing just how imposing the lift and first elements of the ride will look on the stunning Swedish landscape.

Along with this video, talking briefly about the design of the logo, both for printed media and 3D animation.

All good stuff :D

Triple post... However, Wildfire sure does look stunning in the snow :D

So yeah, Wildfire opens this year and the team are pushing on hard at work in the snow to keep the project on track. We'll be watching this thing testing before you know it :p

Wildfire certainly does look good in the snow, here are some new photos from RMC:

:)

So lets have an update on Wildfire, the latest volg found below entitled 'The Four Towers' seems to suggest there has been a design change on the project, much like the one that occurred on Goliath at Six Flags Great America!

So it would seem the lift and drop is no longer going to be made out of traditional wooden bents, but rather 4 huge metal towers instead! Below is the original concept for Goliath!

As we all know, that actually turned out to look like this!

So lets take a look at the Wildfire concept art...

I'm not going to lie, I am now incredibly excited to see how this structure actually turns out!

Vekoma have posted this image showing that track has now arrived:

Kolmarden are now saying that they expect to open Wildfire on Saturday 18th June.

:)

_koppen over on CoasterForce has said that crane operators in Sweeden are currently all on strike and with Kolmarden operating on a very tight schedule to get Wildfire open on time this is very likely to cause delays to opening - they can't really do anything without cranes!

:)

This is why I have learnt never to book a trip until a ride is fully open. ;)

We have track up at last:

And a look at the station and lift structure:

Coming along slowly but surely. It would appear that cranes are back up so hopefully that strike is now over.

:)

Not necessarily. That's a tower crane. You can't just raise or lower them like a mobile crane. They can take a number of days to set up and disassemble so If there were a break in construction, you would be much more likely to leave it there than to waste working days taking it down and putting it back up again for no reason.

Sorry, I should have made my post clearer, there was another photo posted by Kolmarden that appeared to show cranes back in operation:

That also shows just how imposing the lift structure is!

:)

More photos of the lift structure!

The strucutre on top of the rocks just looks immense.

Kolmarden also confirmed last week that they are still on target for a June 18th lauch date with measures being taken to catch up following the strike.

:)

Wow, that looks stunning. You can't beat the look of a woodie.

Wish AT would the genitals to build a mammoth woodie like this, but it will never happen!

Nope, we have to be grateful for our miniscule 800m, 45 second family woodie :(

Well, they are a zoo. I imagine the strikers have been given a complimentary tour of the lion house, along with a brief description about how efficient the wild pigs are at chewing through bone :p
