Liseberg: General Discussion

Despite Swedish parks not being allowed to open, Liseberg's still going ahead with their Grand Curiosa Hotel and plan to open it in 2023 for the park's centennial. The press release includes Andreas Andersen and what the theme'll be, plus amenities.

Parkerlebnis.de have also shared drone footage and the current construction work.

(Ba-da-bing, ba-da-boom, here to do a justified double post because it's been over a month)

Liseberg have uploaded a trailer for Underlandet, it's looking adorable and quirky as expected from the Kaninlandet area! They also show the virtual queuing system they're currently testing on the Swedish only Liseberg app and has a screen showing the boarding times for each group.

You can also see when they filmed this video on the mobile scanner ;)

Apparently officials in Sweden have said that current restrictions are likely to remain in place for at least another year, which would mean that Swedish theme parks will not be able to open at all for the vast majority, if not all, of 2021.

Tragic for the likes of Liseberg. Can parks survive a 2 year closure!?

Hopefully, as i've never visited any of the parks in Sweden before! Kolmarden will be fine because of the zoo, but Grona Lund and Liseberg are in danger!

Liseberg have confirmed that their new waterpark will be called Oceana and have released the following concepts:

Looks pretty good! There will be 14 attractions/slides in total and capacity for up to 1,750 guests.

Is that an un-covered spiral staircase I can see? Bit strange considering the rest of the waterpark is fully enclosed.
Waterpark looks awesome though mind! :)

Bit random this but I was just watching POVs of Lisebergbanan and Helix back-to-back and noticed the conclusion of the first half of Helix copies the end of Lisebergbanan.
They both rise up, interacting with their surroundings and drop into a left sweeping helix which crosses over itself. The difference is while Lisebergbanan hits the breaks Helix u-turns under Lisebergbanan and enters the second launch.
I wonder if the designers did that intentionally. As if to say "This is where the old ride ends but Helix is taking you to the next level". Either way it's a cool bit of complimentary symmetry on the side of the hill.
